Obama regime is spying on every phonecall, email, bank transfer, travel record of every American

Obama Sauron

You know that saying that even the paranoid sometimes are right?

14 months ago, on March 19, 2012, I wrote a post "2013: The end of privacy in America," about the construction of a heavily fortified $2 billion Data Center in Utah, by the National Security Agency, in which the federal government will store (and analyze) your every email, cell phone call, Google search, parking receipt, credit card purchases, and more. The construction was expected to be completed by September of this year, but it looks like the Data Center is already up and running.

For several years, two Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon and Senator Mark Udall of Colorado, have been cryptically warning that the Obama regime was interpreting its surveillance powers under the Patriot Act in a way that would be alarming to the public if we knew about it.

Last year in a letter to Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., Wyden and Udall wrote: "We believe most Americans would be stunned to learn the details of how these secret court opinions have interpreted Section 215 of the Patriot Act. As we see it, there is now a significant gap between what most Americans think the law allows and what the government secretly claims the law allows. This is a problem, because it is impossible to have an informed public debate about what the law should say when the public doesn't know what its government thinks the law says."

The American people are now finding out to what the two senators were cryptically referring.

Charlie Savage and Edward Wyatt report for the New York Times, June 5, 2013, that, using a hotly debated section of the Patriot Act -- the supposed anti-terrorist legislation that first became law in the George W. Bush administration, then not just continued but expanded by the Pres. Lucifer -- the Obama regime is secretly collecting every overseas, domestic and local phone call and email (called "metadata") logged by Verizon Business Network Services (VBNS). Verizon Business is one of America's largest telecommunications and Internet providers for corporations.

This discovery was disclosed yesterday by the UK paper, The Guardian, contained in a highly classified court order, signed in April by Judge Roger Vinson of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Vinson's order directs a Verizon Communications subsidiary, VBNS, to turn over "on an ongoing daily basis" to the National Security Agency (NSA) all call logs "between the United States and abroad" or "wholly within the United States, including local telephone calls."

The FBI had asked for the court order under a section of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the 1978 law that regulates domestic surveillance for national security purposes, allowing the government to secretly obtain "tangible things" like a business's customer records. The provision was expanded by Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which Congress enacted after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Section 215 makes it easier to get an order from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to obtain business records so long as they were merely deemed "relevant" to a national-security investigation.

The order was marked "TOP SECRET//SI//NOFORN," referring to communications-related intelligence information that may not be released to noncitizens. That would make it among the most closely held secrets in the federal government. The collection of call logs is set to expire in July unless the court extends it.

Judge Vinson's order does not apply to the content of the communications, which means it's a blanket order, instead of one that specifically targets only communications containing Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) "trigger words". (For a list of those words, see our LTG's post of May 27, 2012, "DHS Trigger Words?".)

It is not clear whether similar orders have gone to other parts of Verizon, like its residential or cellphone services, or to other telecommunications carriers. The order prohibits its recipient from discussing its existence, and representatives of both Verizon and AT&T declined to comment Wednesday evening.

Obama administration officials at the F.B.I. and the White House also declined to comment on it Wednesday evening, but did not deny the report, and a person familiar with the order confirmed its authenticity. "We will respond as soon as we can," said NSA spokeswoman Marci Green Miller in an e-mail.

Kate Martin of the Center for National Security Studies, a civil liberties advocacy group, said that "absent some explanation I haven't thought of, this looks like the largest assault on privacy since the N.S.A. wiretapped Americans in clear violation of the law [under the Bush administration]. On what possible basis has the government refused to tell us that it believes that the law authorizes this kind of request?"

Even more alarming, Andy Greenberg reports for Forbes, June 5, 2013, that although the NSA has long justified its spying powers by arguing that its charter allows surveillance on those outside of the United States, while avoiding intrusions into the private communications of American citizens, the Obama regime's spying order to Verizon specifically targets Americans, instead of foreigners.

It gets worse.

Elspeth Reeve reports for the Atlantic Wire that the NSA's surveillance of our communications is most likely much, much bigger than that. Technology has made it possible for the American government to spy on citizens to an extent East Germany could only dream of. Basically everything we say that can be traced digitally is being collected by the NSA.

Previous reporting from many outlets suggests that's true. In 2006, USA Today's Leslie Cauley reported the NSA was secretly collecting call records with data from AT&T, Verizon, and BellSouth. A source told Cauley, "It's the largest database ever assembled in the world" and that the NSA wanted "to create a database of every call ever made" within U.S. territory. Likewise, in 2011, The New Yorker's Jane Mayer spoke to former NSA crypto-mathematician Bill Binney, who "believes that the agency now stores copies of all e-mails transmitted in America, in case the government wants to retrieve the details later." He thinks the NSA wants all emails to be searchable, the same way we search with Google. "The agency reportedly has the capacity to intercept and download, every six hours, electronic communications equivalent to the contents of the Library of Congress," Mayer said.

And the NSA isn't just collecting the things we say. It's also tracking what we buy and where we go. In 2008, The Wall Street Journal's Siobhan Gorman reported that the NSA's domestic data collection "have evolved to reach more broadly into data about people's communications, travel and finances in the U.S. than the domestic surveillance programs brought to light since the 2001 terrorist attacks." That means emails records, bank transfers, phone records, travel records.

WHISTLEBLOWER MAGAZINE

OBAMA'S WAR ON CHRISTIANS

The ultimate scandal for the most scandalous presidency in U.S. history

"Scandal." That one word pretty much summarizes the Obama administration's second term – from Benghazi-gate, to the IRS's all-out war on hundreds of conservative organizations, to the Justice Department's "criminalization of journalism" through targeting, harassing and seizing the records of news reporters and editors.

And that's in addition to the many other Obama scandals, from his illegally waged war against Libya and his policy of targeted assassinations of Americans (both designated by a bipartisan panel of constitutional experts as "clearly impeachable offenses") to the Justice Department's disastrous "Fast and Furious" gun-running operation which resulted in at least 100 deaths – and countless other outrages.

Yet, the mother of all Obama scandals – indeed, the root of all the rest – receives little attention from the press. In fact, most Americans have never even heard an explicit reference to the primary scandal of the Obama administration. That is the sole focus of the June issue of WND's acclaimed monthly Whistleblower magazine.

WBJUNE_13_460_wide

As Whistleblower Editor David Kupelian says in the issue, headlined "OBAMA'S WAR ON CHRISTIANS": "Just scratch a little below the surface of all the current scandals, and the mother-lode comes fully into view."

"Take the IRS scandal. Who exactly are all these 500-plus 'tea party,' 'patriot,' 'conservative' and 'prolife' groups being targeted by the revenue agency?" asks Kupelian. "Who populates these organizations? What beliefs and values animate them? By and large, they are Christians and Jews who strongly hold to a traditional, biblical, Judeo-Christian worldview."

Continues Kupelian: "Haven't you wondered why the Obama Department of Homeland Security warns law enforcement departments that the real 'extremist' threats to America are from pro-lifers, patriots, constitutionalists, amnesty opponents, gun enthusiasts and military veterans? Haven't you scratched your head trying to figure out why the U.S. military recently threatened to court-martial Christian service personnel just for sharing their faith with others?

"The hard truth is: Barack Obama considers traditional, freedom-loving, center-right Christian America – not Marxism, not Islamism, not a toxic culture nor a stagnant economy – to be his biggest enemy, his greatest obstacle to fundamentally transforming America."

Highlights of "OBAMA'S WAR ON CHRISTIANS" include:

  • "The biggest Obama scandal of all" by David Kupelian
  • "Banning Christianity from the armed forces" by Joseph Farah, who reports that the U.S. military was recently advised that Christian believers are "monsters" who "terrorize" others with their faith
  • "Under Obama, Christians and conservatives are 'extremists'" by Bob Unruh, on the current administration's relentless demonization of opponents of abortion, same-sex marriage and illegal immigration
  • "IRS targeting of conservatives continues" by Jerome R. Corsi, on the public interest law firm that has now sued the revenue agency in federal court on behalf of 25 different organizations
  • "IRS demands Christian pro-lifers reveal 'the content of their prayers'" – one of the most outrageous abuses in an era of outrages
  • "Why Obama wars against Judeo-Christian America" by David Kupelian, an in-depth and thought-provoking exploration of what's really behind the never-ending attacks on everything "decent" and "normal"
  • "Obamacare forcing Christian companies to provide abortion pill" by Bob Unruh, showing how some of the Obama administration's abuses are so egregious that the judiciary is siding against them
  • "New class of people identified as IRS enemies" by Gina Loudon, on the bizarre fact that families that adopt children are far more likely to be audited by the IRS than "millionaires and billionaires"
  • "Warning from Canada: Orwellian future awaits U.S." by Art Moore, who documents how the lessons of 10 years of same-sex marriage in our neighbor to the north totally shatter the arguments of "gay marriage" supporters
  • "Lesbian journalist: 'Gay marriage is a lie'" – in a candid moment, journalist-activist confirms everything most opponents of same-sex marriage have long believed
  • "Feds require employees to give open LGBT approval" by Matt Barber, who explains the latest – and astonishingly Orwellian – decree from the Obama Justice Department: No longer is it OK for Christians just to be intimidated and "shut up" regarding "lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders" in the federal workplace – they most verbally support it! As one internal DOJ memo to employees puts it: "Silence will be interpreted as disapproval"
  • "How a revered Christian institution was brought down" by Peter LaBarbera, a poignant, insider look at what really caused the downfall of the Boy Scouts of America
  • "Dobson: Feds must stop silencing and intimidating Christians" by Bob Unruh, in which the evangelical leader confirms that the IRS has been directly targeting traditional-values religious groups – including his own
  • "Assaulting Christians but coddling terrorists" by David Limbaugh, on the U.S. military's disturbing track record of targeting religious liberty
  • "Reflections by a former Muslim on Obama's love of Islam" by Nonie Darwish, on how Obama became the "savior of both Islam and socialists"
  • "The world's most dynamic religion is …" by Dennis Prager, who surprisingly reveals that today's most influential belief system – and the one increasingly dominating America – is neither Christianity nor Islam
  • "Beware of liberals in evangelicals' clothing" by Ann Coulter, who exposes the totally irrational "new Christian ethic of compassion-by-personal-encounter"
  • "Christian civil disobedience may be imminent" by Patrick J. Buchanan, who asks: What happens when millions of believers refuse to obey new same-sex marriage laws?
  • "Memo to Christian troops: We've got your back" by Matt Barber, who speaks for one public-interest law firm in encouraging American soldiers to "stand tall and proclaim your faith proudly."

"Fasten your seat belts," says Kupelian, "because we're about to go for a wild ride, connecting the dots of the Obama administration's many outrages, allowing the real scandal underlying all the others to finally come clearly into view."

Will Islam Make a Man Out of You?

Will Islam Make a Man Out of You?

Posted By Robert Spencer On June 3, 2013

Terry Holdbrooks Jr. is a former Guantanamo guard who, he says, was so impressed with the faith and perseverance of the detainees that he converted to Islam in 2003. Now he makes a living traveling around the country telling dubious and lurid tales of Guantanamo tortures for the Muslim Legal Fund of America, and explaining why he converted. "I had all the freedom in the world," he says. "But I was waking up unhappy while these men were in cages, smiling and praying five times a day."

For Holdbrooks, the contrast couldn't have been more stark. Before his conversion (and for some time after it, until he rededicated himself to Islam), he was drinking, smoking, using drugs, and indulging in promiscuity – in other words, he was a relatively typical, rudderless early twentieth-century American male. The Army gave him an honorable discharge in 2005 for a "generalized personality disorder." But then he renewed his Islamic commitment, and, according to the New York Daily News, "found discipline in prayer."

Discipline. The Islam4theWorld website explains: "Islam is a complete way of living. Unlike other religions, Islam is not a religion consisting of a few rituals, which are to be practiced occasionally. Islam covers every aspect of life." This is no exaggeration. The Union of Islamic World Students elucidates exactly how Islam covers every aspect of life:

Islam has rules of etiquette and manners covering every aspect of life. These are applicable for the whole society, the old and the young, men and women. These manners cover even minor acts such as entering or exiting a bathroom, posture while sitting and cleaning oneself.

The same site then approvingly quotes a hadith in which "one of the polytheists" ridiculed the Muslims, telling one of them: "Your prophet has taught you everything, even the manners of going to the toilet." The Muslim, however, affirmed that that was indeed true:

Yes, the Prophet forbade us from facing the Qibla [the direction toward Mecca] when urinating or relieving oneself. The Prophet asked us not to use the right hand when cleaning ourselves and to use at least three stones for cleaning.

Islam, indeed, has a rule for everything that a human being could imaginably do, with the horrifying punishments of hellfire awaiting those who fail to observe them. So why would a smokin', tokin' American boy choose a belief system in which everything he does is regulated, and he has to devote the bulk of his time learning the arcane rules of Allah for brushing his teeth, trimming his beard, and how many stones to use when going to the bathroom?

The answer may lie precisely in those regulations. Islam, of course, with its polygamy, easy divorce for men, divinely sanctioned wife-beating, inheritance rules that favor sons over daughters, and much more is very oriented toward the earthly comfort and satisfaction of males – and that has attracted numerous male converts. At Guantanamo, however, Holdbrooks would not have seen that play out. He did, however, see the detainees' resignation to the absolute will of Allah. In Islam, everything, even the individual's determination of whether or not to accept Islam, is in Allah's hands: "If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed, all who are on earth! (Qur'an 10:99) – but Allah does not so will, and instead will "fill hell with Jinns and men" (Qur'an 32:13). With Allah having such absolute power over everything, it is useless to chafe at one's situation in the world: if a believer is in Gitmo, Allah wants him in Gitmo.

This is fatalism, not serenity. Holdbrooks, however, raised in our aggressively secular and morally relativistic society, was unable to discern the difference. He had been a spiritual seeker, but without an informed sense of perspective:

As a teenager, Holdbrooks had searched for truths in several different religions. He came to Guantanamo convinced that all monotheistic religions were evil.

Lost in a haze of drugs and meaningless sex, Holdbrooks (like so many of his generation) was seeking – and of course not finding — in hedonistic pleasures the key to what it means to be a man in the world. He even went to Guantanamo because he thought it would be an easy gig: "Gitmo was supposed to be a cushy deployment since we were just going to babysit detainees," he explained. "But it changed me."

Adrift in our weepy, feelings-oriented culture of sentimentality, Holdbrooks saw the certainties of Islam the way a drowning man would eye a piece of driftwood.

The problem, however, is that Islam's vision of masculinity is chimerical. It offers absolutes and certainties not within an atmosphere that fosters maturity and discernment, but within the context of "slavery to Allah" – a slavery that robs the slave of everything that would make him a functioning adult.

Even Holdbrooks' allegations about Guantanamo atrocities sound like the lurid imaginings of a sexually conflicted and confused adolescent:

I saw people put in stress positions for eight hours until they defecated themselves. Then the guards would come in and emasculate them.

He also claimed that menstrual blood was "smeared" on the faces of detainees. Whatever the truth may be about these claims, it is striking how closely they echo those made against American troops by al-Qaeda detainees in Iraq – reflecting a peculiar and immature (and, in Islamic supremacist literature, recurring) fixation with sexual humiliation and bodily fluids.

Said Holdbrooks:

The Qur'an is the simplest book in the world to read. It doesn't have magic. It doesn't contradict itself. It's simply an instruction manual for living.

Indeed, that is what it claims to be. But Islam, unfortunately for Terry Holdbrooks, with its minute regulations and absolute control of every aspect of the believer's life, doesn't make a man out of you. That kind of hyper-regulation doesn't create men. It creates slaves, and slaves are, perpetually, children.

Mainstream Media Fail to Break Even One of Four Obama Scandals

Mainstream Media Fail to Break Even One of Four Obama Scandals

 999

by John Nolte 6 Jun 2013, 6:10 AM PDT post a comment

Well, if it is Thursday there must be a new Obama scandal. But one thing is for damn sure, whatever that scandal is, you can bet the American mainstream media will be playing catch up and not carrying the glory of breaking a story about a major White House scandal.

Fact: Over the past few weeks, four major scandals have broken over the Obama administration, and it is a very sad (and frightening) truth that our pathetic, American, lapdog mainstream media is not responsible for breaking even a single one.

Verizon? Nope, not our guys. That was the Brits over at The Guardian.

IRS? Nope, not our guys. The IRS broke their own scandal with a planted question.

The Justice Department's seizure of Associated Press phone records? Nope, not our guys. Believe it or not, the Associated Press didn't even break that story. Like the IRS, we only found out because the Justice Department outted itself in a letter notifying the AP of what it had done.

Benghazi? Are you kidding. With a couple of rare exceptions (Jake Tapper, Sharyl Attkisson) the media has spent the last 8 months attacking those seeking the truth (Congress, Fox News) not seeking the truth. It was the GOP congress that demanded the email exchanges around the shaping of the talking points, not the media.

Left up to the media, we wouldn't know anything about Libya. All of the media's energy was collectively poured into ensuring the truth was never discovered.

And do you want to know what makes this realization especially pathetic? In three of the four scandals (the AP being the exception), had our media been less interested in protecting Power and more interested in holding Power accountable, these huge, career-making stories were right there for their taking.

For over a year now, conservative Tea Party groups have been complaining about IRS harassment. But because Obama told them to, the media hates the Tea Party. So in the face of these complaints and even a few Congressional inquiries, the media either ignored the harassment reports or openly sided with the IRS. (No joke. Click the link.)

Obviously, you can say the same about Libya. All the dots were there to connect: Security failures, two weeks of lies, the midnight arrest of some hapless filmmaker… But rather than connect the dots, the media played goalie for Obama against Fox News and Darrell Issa. Besides, there was a re-election to win and Todd Akin got something wrong about The Womanparts.

Moreover, there are still plenty of dots to connect about Libya. But the new SQUIRREL is OVERREACH and already the lapdogs are back in goalie formation.

As far as the Verizon story, members of congress, specifically Democrat Senators  Ron Wyden and Mark Udall, have been hint-hint-wink-winking to the media that something is horribly amiss going back to December:

In a Senate floor speech in December, Wyden hinted at classified information he had received but could not share due to Senate rules that indicated the law "on Americans' privacy has been real, and it is not hypothetical."

"When the public finds out that these secret interpretations are so dramatically different than what the public law says, I think there's going to be extraordinary anger in the country," he told The Huffington Post the following month.

That is from today's Politico report on the Verizon scandal. Apparently, Politico knew of this back in December but had all their investigative researchers digging into why those short-skirted Tea Partiers had it coming, so they missed another one of the biggest stories of the year.

Politico shouldn't feel bad, though, because when it comes to missing the four biggest scoops of the Obama administration, they have plenty of lazy, lapdog, sycophant company in that department.

Our media is not only biased, it is an utter and complete failure and embarrassment. And although there are plenty of remaining table scraps to make meals out of, the media is already losing interest in the IRS, Libya, and AP scandals, but for only one reason -- they are absolutely terrified of where they might lead.

During the Bush years, it was the New York Times, Washington Post and Sy Hersh breaking story  after story after story about the White House. And yes, some of that reporting was -- ahem -- overreach, but at least Power knew it was being watched; our democracy was safe because an overzealous media is what you call a luxury problem.

Today, it is the complete opposite and the result is an administration run amok.

Get down on your knees and thank your Maker for conservative New Media, Roger Ailes, and for the few true liberals left in the media, like Glenn Greenwald -- who works for the Brits.
