The First Amendment For Dummies!

By David Whitley / 16 August 2013 / 0 comments

There is an amnesia or kind of pathology in America where the facts of history and truths of our republic have been lost to popular myth, misconception and or misinformation, rooted in an unquestioning trust of our academic elite, news media and elected representatives. One of the greatest losses to individual freedom is the collective belief that the federal government is the all-powerful supreme level of government that rules over us and the states in which we live with dictatorial powers. This idea could not be further from the truth. Take for example our Bill of Rights and the First Amendment to the Constitution.

It reads: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So brief and so plain. How can such simplicity be so corrupted? The plain truth can be found in James Madison's Federalist No. 45 regarding the distinction between the federal government's "few and defined" powers and those numerous and indefinite held by the states and the people:

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State."
The plainest way to read the First Amendment would be in six easy to understand sentences.

st amendment privilegeCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.

Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech.

Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press.

Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble.

Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And what we find when we are done reading is that there is one common threat to it all, Congress shall not do these things. It is clear that these personal liberties are reserved to the states themselves. To be decided by the people themselves, not the bureaucrats in Washington DC who love to play around with liberty, handcuffing the states, controlling the levers of power and ruling over the people.

Fwd: The Syrian Hackers Are Winning. Here's Why.

The Syrian Hackers Are Winning. Here's Why.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/08/15/sea_outbrain_hack_syrian_electronic_army_hits_washington_post_time_cnn_via.html?wpisrc=newsletter_jcr:content

By Will Oremus

Posted Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at 3:08 PM

Syrian Electronic Army homepage

Readers who clicked on Outbrain-recommended stories on the Washington Post

site were redirected to the Syrian Electronic Army's homepage.

Syrian hackers struck again Thursday in a clever attack that affected the

websites of the Washington Post, Time, CNN, and possibly other major media

outlets. Readers who clicked on certain stories were reportedly directed to

the Syrian Electronic Army's homepage.

What looked at first like a targeted attack on the Post now appears to have

been both more subtle and more widespread. Rather than simply hitting the

Post or other media sites directly, the hackers apparently infiltrated the

servers of Outbrain, a third-party service used by the Post, Time, CNN,

Slate, and many other sites across the Web to recommend stories to their

readers. The attack is the clearest signal yet that the Syrian Electronic

Army, or SEA, has graduated from hijacking media outlets' Twitter feeds to

more serious and complex hacks. And it comes a day after a self-described

SEA leader told the Daily Beast that the group was stepping up its attacks

in retaliation for Twitter's efforts to keep it off the microblogging site.

The attacks came a day after the New York Times' website suffered a two-hour

outage due to what the paper's officials believe was an unrelated internal

problem. There's no evidence the SEA was involved.

In contrast, the SEA immediately claimed responsibility via Twitter for

Thursday's attacks:

Outbrain confirmed the hack and said it had pulled its recommendations from

sites across the Web until it could fix the problem. It seems the Post was

also targeted directly, as the paper's managing editor reported that

newsroom employees had been hit with SEA phishing attacks earlier in the

week. So far it does not appear that the attacks inflicted permanent

damage-but they pose plenty of cause for concern.

Over the past year, the Syrian Electronic Army has hit a virtual who's-who

of major media outlets, from Reuters to NPR to the Onion, mostly via email

phishing attacks that trick employees into giving up their social-media

credentials so that the SEA can hijack their Twitter feeds. The most notable

example came in April, when the group used the Associated Press Twitter

account to send out false reports of an explosion at the White House,

sending a shockwave through the stock market. Here's the phishing email that

hooked AP employees.

That's probably about the most damage you could hope to cause simply by

hijacking a Twitter feed. But today's Outbrain attack was different, and

potentially more insidious, with the group apparently infiltrating the

company's servers to gain access to its administrative panels. Writing for

the blog E-Hacking News, security researcher Sabari Selvan reported that he

had interviewed one of the hackers involved:

Speaking to E Hacking News, [the] hacker said that the admin panel of

Outbrain is hosted in the local server.  However, they managed to login into

the panel with the help of VPN and access panel.  The group also told EHN

that they have compromised emails of Outbrain.

That's consistent with a story in The Register earlier this month, which

reported that the group's hacks have grown more sophisticated of late, and

the targets have branched out from news websites to online telephone

directories and voice-over-IP apps. Today's Outbrain attack is indicative of

an even more recent focus on third-party services widely used by U.S. media

outlets. Earlier this week the SEA hacked Socialflow, a social-media

content-management service.

Just yesterday, the Daily Beast's Brian Ries interviewed a self-described

SEA leader who claimed the group was stepping up its attacks in response to

Twitter's takedown of its official feed. From the Daily Beast:

"Our account has been closed 15 times," the hacker said in an interview

conducted over the hackers' medium of choice, Twitter. "We warned that we

will hack the Twitter accounts of the mass media if Twitter closed our

accounts again. They closed our accounts, and so we have implemented the

threat."

The Syrian Electronic Army's main goal, the hacker told Ries, is to show the

world the "truth" about Syria-that "there is no revolution in Syria, but

[only] terrorists groups killing people accusing Syrian Arab Army."

So far the attacks seem more likely to simply annoy people than convince

them of the group's point of view. But they highlight the rather startling

vulnerability of even the biggest-name media websites to cyberattacks. And

in theory, the type of access that the SEA gained to Outbrain's servers

today could have be used to wreak more serious havoc on other Web services

in the future.

For now the damage seems to have been contained. Outbrain reported in an

update that "the breach now seems to be secured and the hackers blocked out,

but we are keeping the service down for a little longer until we can be sure

that it's safe to turn it back on securely."

Over the years, major banks, Internet companies, and governmental

organizations have gotten much better at defending themselves against

cyberattacks. But the SEA's string of successful hacks shows that the same

isn't necessarily true of major media organizations, nor the mid-sized tech,

media, and communications startups that many larger companies rely on for

various services. That's understandable-these companies are busy running

their core business and would prefer not to expend time and money building

in security redundancies and putting their employees through a battery of

anti-phishing exercises. But today's attacks show that the SEA recognizes

this, and they'll continue to exploit it until or unless these companies

adapt.

New post on Fellowship of the Minds

Censored News: Black woman kills 12 y.o. white boy with blow torch

by Dr. Eowyn

Jonathan Foster Jonathan Foster (l); Mona Nelson (r). Would the media report this if Foster wore a hoodie?

We couldn't escape the media's 24-7 coverage of the death of 17-year-old 6' black teen Trayvon Martin and the trial of his shooter, half-Hispanic George Zimmerman. But have you heard or seen news about a 44-year-old black woman named Mona Nelson who is on trial for the murder-by-blow-torch of a 12-year-old white Texas boy, Jonathan Foster?

Even worse, Nelson committed the murder more than 2½ years ago, on Christmas Eve 2010 -- but we'd heard/seen NOTHING about this.

That's because in Obama's America, blacks now enjoy "black skin privilege" and Big Media simply turn a blind eye to black crimes, especially black-on-white crimes.

As recounted by the UK's Daily Mail, 12-year-old Foster was reported missing from his home on Christmas Eve 2010, after his mother, Angela Davis, said she had received a strange call at her workplace from a gruff-sounding woman. Davis initially told police her boy was with a babysitter. But she later admitted that he was home alone.

The boy's burned body was discovered on December 28 in a roadside ditch in Houston, Texas, not far from where he lived.

ditchMona Nelson told local KTRK TV that a member of Jonathan's family had given  her $20 to dump a plastic container on Christmas Eve. She said she was drunk on vodka and didn't know what was inside the container.

But police revealed that Jonathan's burned body had not been discovered in a plastic container, but in a ditch. Police also say Nelson's truck was spotted on surveillance footage dumping something in the ditch where the boy's body was found. In addition, investigators discovered evidence at Nelson's apartment that allegedly links her to the crime, including burned carpet and twine similar to that used to bind Jonathan's hands.

While denying she had killed Jonathan, insisting "I'm not a monster. I have five grandkids and I love kids," Nelson admitted having a cutting torch that she claims she used in her job as a welder. But police say she used the torch to burn the boy's body.

Jonathan's homeJonathan's home in Houston, Texas

Cynthia Cisneros reports for KTRK on December 30, 2010, that police revealed more about Jonathan's abduction and murder at a news conference. Police believe the boy was home alone on Christmas Eve and was killed and his body dumped on that very same day.

Nelson admitted to dumping Jonathan's badly burned body in northeast Houston off of East Hardy, but she denied killing the child. But surveillance cameras near where Jonathan's body was found showed Nelson to have lied.

HPD Captain David Gott said around 6pm Christmas Eve, surveillance video showed a silver truck pull up to a ditch outside of a building on East Hardy. A person, whom neighbors and family identified as Nelson, can be seen getting out of the truck, taking a body out of the bed of the truck and placing it in on the ground. Nelson also drives a similar truck.

Nelson's homeMona Nelson's apartment

When authorities searched Nelson's apartment in northwest Houston, they found "a wealth of evidence" that showed Jonathan's body was burned at Nelson's residence, as well as the tools (torches and welding tools) used to burn the boy. Authorities say Nelson is a maintenance worker who works with tools and torches. Authorities believe Jonathan was taken there, killed and burned beyond recognition the same day within hours. Twine used to tie Jonathan was also found inside Nelson's home. Jonathan's burnt body was identified by his dental records.

A next door neighbor, Rita Jackson said Nelson was there while Jonathan's family was looking for him on Christmas Eve: "Yeah, she was just sitting there, looking at what was going on." Police also said they believe Nelson is a a predator who has done this before and that they don't believe her brutality begins with Jonathan.

Det. Mike MillerThe horrible details of Jonathan's murder were too much for several detectives who struggled to keep from crying.

"There are few cases that impact homicide detectives -- this is one of them," said HPD Homicide Detective Mike Miller, who interviewed Nelson, held back tears as he described her. "She is a cold, soulless murderer who showed an absolute lack of remorse in taking the life of Jonathan Foster. She decided when the time was right and she swooped down and took him when she saw the time was right, and she saw an opportune moment. I've worked in Homicide Division 14 years and this is the worst case I've been a part of -- an innocent 12 year old who everybody says was happy, outgoing and well-liked by everyone in the neighborhood. It's an absolute tragedy."

Mona Nelson2Mona Nelson (l); Jonathan Foster (r)

KTRK reports that on August 12, 2013, the trial of Mona Nelson for the murder of Jonathan Foster finally began in a courtroom in Houston. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty. Nelson has asked for a judge instead of a jury to decide the verdict.

According to Donald Joy of ClashDaily.com, "Nancy Grace dropped the story as soon as she realized it was a black woman murdering a little white boy. The media have avoided the story like the plague, never once looking into whether it was a 'hate crime.' The original local news report has been removed. Suspect has sought and received legal counsel from local leadership of the New Black Panther Party.  No story here, folks. Move along …"

Fwd: Obamacare Provision: “Forced” Home Inspections

http://savingourfuture.com/2013/08/obamacare-provision-forced-home-inspections/
staten+island+home+invasion

"Clearly, any family may be visited by federally paid agents for almost any reason."

According to an Obamacare provision millions of Americans will be targeted.

The Health and Human Services' website states that your family will be targeted if you fall under the "high-risk" categories below:

Families where mom is not yet 21.

Families where someone is a tobacco user.

Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities.

Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.

There is no reference to Medicaid being the determinant for a family to be "eligible."

In 2011, the HHS announced $224 million will be given to support evidence-based home visiting programs to "help parents and children." Individuals from the state will implement these leveraging strategies to "enhance program sustainability."

Constitutional attorney and author Kent Masterson Brown states,

"This is not a "voluntary" program. The eligible entity receiving the grant for performing the home visits is to identify the individuals to be visited and intervene so as to meet the improvement benchmarks. A homeschooling family, for instance, may be subject to "intervention" in "school readiness" and "social-emotional developmental indicators." A farm family may be subject to "intervention" in order to "prevent child injuries." The sky is the limit.

Although the Obama administration would claim the provision applies only to Medicaid families, the new statute, by its own definition, has no such limitation. Intervention may be with any family for any reason. It may also result in the child or children being required to go to certain schools or taking certain medications and vaccines and even having more limited – or no – interaction with parents. The federal government will now set the standards for raising children and will enforce them by home visits."

Part of the program will require massive data collecting of private information including all sources of income and the amount gathered from each source.

A manual called Child Neglect: A Guide for Prevention, Assessment, and Intervention includes firearms as potential safety hazard and will require inspectors to verify safety compliance and record each inspection into a database.

Last session South Carolina Rep. Bill Chumley introduced a bill, H.3101 that would nullify certain provisions of Obamacare. The bill would give the state attorney general the authority to authorize law enforcement to arrest federal agents for trespassing. It would make forced home inspections under Obamacare illegal in South Carolina. It passed in the House but died in the senate.

Fwd: Women who fear forced marriages hide a spoon in their underwear so they can flee from their parents at airport security when they are taken aside to be searched

Women who fear forced marriages hide a spoon in their underwear so they can flee from their parents at airport security when  they are taken aside to be searched

  • Campaign group Karma Nirvana often advises girls to employ tactic
  • Last chance for them to be separated and tell someone what is happening
  • Government says hundreds of girls at risk of forced marriage during summer

By Steve Robson

PUBLISHED: 06:32 EST, 16 August 2013 | UPDATED: 07:48 EST, 16 August 2013

Fears: The Government says thousands of girls and women in Britain are forced into marriages every year

Teenage girls who fear they are being taken abroad to enter into a forced marriage are escaping by putting metal spoons in their underwear, a charity has revealed.

Karma Nirvana, a Derby-based campaign group which supports victims of forced marriage, advises girls to use a spoon, or any other metal object, to set off detectors at the airport and separate themselves from parents.

The charity says a number of girls have used the tactic to avoid being taken overseas and entered into a life of servitude.

Last week, the Government warned that thousands of schoolgirls are at risk of being sent away to enter into forced marriages during the summer holidays.

The Foreign Office's Forced Marriage Unit gave support for 1,485 cases up to December 2012, although it is feared many more go unreported. Around 400 of these were reported int he three months up to the end of August.

More than a third were under the age of 17 and more than 80 per cent were female.

Speaking to the AFP news agency, Natasha Rattu, Karma Nirvana's operations manager, said that when worried youngsters ring the charity's helpline, 'if they don't know exactly when it may happen or if it's going to happen, we advise them to put a spoon in their underwear.

'When they go through security, it will highlight this object in a private area and, if 16 or over, they will be taken to a safe space where they have that one last opportunity to disclose they're being forced to marry.'

Trick: Having a metal spoon on their person is being used as a last-minute tactic to set off airport security by girls to escape their parents

Doctors, teachers and airport staff are among those being asked to remain vigilant to the possibility of young girls being taken away during the summer break.

Of the cases that the FMU handles, almost half relate to forced marriages in Pakistan. Other countries where girls are sent include Bangladesh, India, Somalia, Turkey, Iraq and Iran.

The oldest case was a woman aged 71 and the youngest just two-years-old.

A victim, whose identity was protected by Essex Police, told AFP that her father forced her into a marriage in India, after threatening to find her and kill her if she tried to run away.

'I was shipped off with a total stranger. That night I was raped by my husband and this abuse continued for about eight and half years of my life,' she said. She later escaped.
