Best Joke In 2013
George Bush, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell. While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.
The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.
Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.
Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she
is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.
Finally George Bush gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Bush got to call the USA so cheaply. The devil smiles and replies, "Since Obama took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

Fwd: Fw: Japanese Ingenuity - Save your plastic

Salvation - We can be saved from our foolishness.

Google has many articles on this and said it was true. It could be commercially viable in 5 - 10 years. Probably, after the big oil companies buy the rights...

If this is true and viable I dont see why the UN is not pushing for it! When
an invention like this is already up and working why our governments don't
have them installed everywhere.... instead of taxing us on emission? This is
one of the most amazing break-through in Technology I have ever seen!
Why aren't we doing this now?  I think we should all do what we can to save
what we are destroying! Not surprised at this at all, just a case of
Japanese ingenuity and perseverance.

Fwd: US 'positioning forces' for possible action against Syria

US 'positioning forces' for possible action against Syria

The Pentagon is moving forces into place in case President Barack Obama opts for military action against Syria, as US security advisers prepare to meet to discuss how to tackle an apparent chemical attack in Damascus.

Amid calls for military intervention after the Syrian regime carried out an alleged chemical weapons attack this week, US commanders have prepared a range of "options" for Mr Obama if he chooses to launch an attack on the Damascus regime, US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel said aboard his plane en route to Malaysia.

But he declined to provide any details on the positioning of US troops and assets.

"The Defence Department has a responsibility to provide the president with options for all contingencies," Mr Hagel said.

US media reported warships had been sent to the region for possible cruise missile attacks or other action but Mr Hagel declined to comment on the accounts.

"The president has asked the Defence Department for options. Like always, the Defence Department is prepared and has been prepared to provide all options for all contingencies to the president of the United States," he said.

"And that requires positioning our forces, positioning our assets, to be able to carry out different options – whatever options the president might choose."

He also did not comment on a report from CBS News that the Pentagon was making "initial preparations" for a cruise missile attack.

Separately, a US official said Mr Obama's security advisers will convene at the White House this weekend to discuss US options, including possible military action, against the Syrian government over an apparent chemical weapons attack earlier this week.

If Mr Obama takes part in the high-level meeting as appears likely, it would be his first full-scale session with top foreign policy aides since Wednesday's mass poisoning in a Damascus suburb.

US newspapers also have suggested disagreements within the administration over the risks of another American military intervention in the Middle East.

The Pentagon chief and other defence officials made clear no decision had been taken on whether to employ military force against President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Mr Hagel, who visited US Marines in Hawaii on Thursday before setting off on a week-long tour of Southeast Asia, said he expected American intelligence agencies to "swiftly" assess whether the Syrian government indeed used chemical weapons.

He said the US government would work closely with its allies.

"The international community should and will act in concert on these kinds of issues," Mr Hagel said.

CIA OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE U2 PROGRAM

"The Central Intelligence Agency and Overhead Reconnaissance, The U2 and OXCART Programs, 1954-1974," written by Gregory W. Pedlow and Donald E. Welzenbach. This formerly top secret CIA internal history of the U2 program was written in 1992. This copy of the report was released by the CIA in August, 2013.

This report contains a comprehensive and authoritative history of the CIA's manned overhead reconnaissance program, which from 1954 to 1974 developed and operated the U2 and the A-12 OXCART. It describes not only the program's technological and bureaucratic aspects, but also its political and international context. The authors tell an engrossing story, the struggle between the CIA and the US Air Force to control the U2 and A-12 OXCART projects. The report reveals how the manned reconnaissance program confronted problems that still beset successor programs today.

The report is based upon both full access to CIA records and extensive classified interviews of its participants. The CIA's historians have found records that were nearly irretrievably lost and have interviewed participants whose personal recollections gave information available nowhere else.

Subjects include: The history of high attitude reconnaissance, development of the U2, Soviet, Middle East and Latin American surveillance operations.

Also included on this disc is a copy the same report that was released in 1998 with fewer pages and more redactions.

The later release contains newly declassified material concerning the U2 program. Previously unreleased material includes names of pilots, codenames and cryptonyms, locations, funding and cover arrangements, electronic countermeasures equipment, cooperation with foreign governments, and operations, particularly in Asia.

An example of the new material; in the 1998 release pages 153 to 157 was withheld in their entirety. Those pages are in the 2013 release. They discuss the British participation in the U-2 program. The authors note that President Dwight Eisenhower viewed British participation "as a way to confuse the Soviets as to sponsorship of particular overflights" as well to spread the risk of failure.

Highlights include:

Numerous references to Area 51 and Groom Lake, with a map of the area.

Names of all the pilots who flew the U-2 missions that are discussed in the history.

A table (Appendix D) which provides key data on all U-2 flights over the Soviet Union, including date, mission numbers, pilot, airfield, payload, and route. Maps show all the routes.

Cryptonyms and codewords such as KWEXTRA-00, KWGLITTER-00, OARFISH, HTNAMABLE, KWCORK, MUDLARK (the project to gather all available information about the downing of Francis Gary Powers' U-2), and HBJARGON (the U-2 base in Pakistan).

An account (pp. 231-233, previously redacted in its entirety) of U-2 operations from India, between 1962 and 1967, triggered by the 1962 Sino-Indian war.

An account (pp. 222-230 ff., almost entirely deleted in the previous release) of U.S.-sponsored Chinese Nationalist U-2 operations, including tables of the number of overflight andperipheral missions each year.

Details of Operation FISH HAWK (pp. 249-251), the employment of a U-2, launched off an aircraft carrier in May 1964, to photograph the French nuclear test site in the Pacific. Discussions of a manned low-altitude reconnaissance program, STPOLLY, consisting of flights over China during the 1960s by Chinese Nationalist pilots.

An account (pp. 211-216) of U-2 operations in support of CIA covert operations during the 1958 Indonesian rebellion and the Tibetan rebellion against China.

U2 FLIGHT MANUAL

A 295 page, 1959 flight manual released by the CIA in 2012. The flight manual includes a description of the plane, warning bulletins and updates, pre-flight check list, sections on normal procedures, emergency procedures, description and operation of auxiliary equipment, operating limitations, flight characteristics, systems operation, all weather operation, and operating data.

U2 RELATED DOCUMENTS

Additional reports, memos, and correspondences cover: Crash of U2 plane piloted by Francis Gary Power; Briefings of Congressional leaders; Overflights of Cuba and the Soviet Union; U2 program statistics; Legality of U2 flights; Organization of the U2 Program.

John F Kennedy Assassination: Warren Commission FBI Files

These documents are from the FBI headquarters file serial number 62-109060. They record the interaction between the FBI and members of the Warren Commission. They document the work performed by the FBI at the request of the Warren Commission.

President Johnson appointed the Warren Commission on November 29, 1963, to investigate the assassination of President Kennedy on November 22, 1963, at Dallas, Texas. President Johnson directed the Commission to evaluate matters relating to the assassination and the subsequent killing of the alleged assassin, and to report its findings and conclusions to him.

The following members served on the Commission:

Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the United States; Richard B. Russell, Democratic Senator from Georgia and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee; John Sherman Cooper, Republican Senator from Kentucky; Hale Boggs, Democratic Representative from Louisiana and majority whip in the House of Representatives; Gerald R. Ford, Republican Representative from Michigan; Allen W. Dulles, lawyer and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency; John J. McCloy, lawyer, former President of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and former United States High Commissioner for Germany.

The Commission acted promptly to obtain a staff to meet its needs. J. Lee Rankin, former Solicitor General of the United States, was sworn in as general counsel for the Commission on December 16, 1963. He was aided in his work by 14 assistant counsels who were divided into teams to deal with the various subject areas of the investigation. The Commission was also assisted by lawyers, Internal Revenue Service agents, a senior historian, an editor, and secretarial and administrative personnel who were assigned to the Commission by Federal agencies at its request.

The Commission reviewed reports by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, Department of State, and the Attorney General of Texas, and then requested additional information from federal agencies, Congressional committees, and state and local experts. The Commission held hearings and took the testimony of 552 witnesses. On several occasions, the Commission went to Dallas to visit the scene of the assassination and other places.

The Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing Kennedy and wounding Texas Governor John Connally and that Jack Ruby also acted alone when he killed Oswald a few days later.

In 1978 the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations released its report. The report made conclusions about the work of the President's Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy (Warren Commission). It reported that it found that: "The Warren Commission performed with varying degrees of competency in the fulfillment of its duties. The Warren Commission conducted a thorough and professional investigation into the responsibility of Lee Harvey Oswald for the assassination. The Warren Commission failed to investigate adequately the possibility of a conspiracy to assassinate the President. This deficiency was attributable in part to the failure of the Commission to receive all the relevant information that was in the possession of other agencies and departments of the Government. The Warren Commission arrived at its conclusions, based on the evidence available to it, in good faith. The Warren Commission presented the conclusions in its report in a fashion that was too definitive."
