Money really does grow on trees: Gold in Eucalyptus found

by coto2admin

By Kesha West ABC News Australia Geoscientists in Perth have discovered gold particles in the leaves, twigs and bark of eucalyptus trees, claiming a "eureka" moment which could revolutionise gold mining. CSIRO researchers believe the trees, sitting on top of gold deposits buried deep underground, suck up the gold in their search for moisture during […]

Schumer's Dangerous Idea

By Betsy McCaughey on 10.23.13 @ 6:08AM

His proposal goes against 226 years of U.S. history.

Last Sunday on Meet the Press, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York announced he will propose legislation to permanently take control of the debt limit away from Congress and give it to the president. It's a dictator's dream come true. The framers of the U.S. Constitution gave Congress alone power to borrow, tax, and decide how public revenues are spent. They wanted to prevent a president from spending excessively and saddling the public with huge debts. That's what the despotic kings of Europe had done.

Article 1 Sect. 8 states that "Congress shall have the Power To lay and collect Taxes…to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general welfare of the United States; To borrow Money on the credit of the United States." Schumer's proposal stuffs the Constitution in the waste basket. It would allow the president to raise the debt ceiling, subject only to a two-thirds vote of disapproval by both houses of Congress. That's no more constitutional than allowing the president to impose whatever taxes he wants, unless two-thirds of both houses disapprove.

The bargain rushed through Congress last week to reopen the government ceded control over the debt limit to the president until February 7. That temporary concession itself violated the Constitution, though Washington politicians ignored that fact as they hurried to make a deal. Schumer would make this unconstitutional arrangement permanent.

Schumer's proposal goes against 226 years of American history. Until 1917, the president had to ask Congress's permission for each borrowing and frequently acquiesced to conditions. That year, Congress devised the debt ceiling, which allowed the president flexibility to borrow up to a certain amount in order to fund a world war. Ever since then, presidents have come to Congress once or twice a year for a debt ceiling hike, often making political concessions to get it. Until this year, Congress had never abdicated control over the nation's indebtedness.

In fact, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Congress can't surrender its powers to another branch of government or change how laws are made. (I.N.S. v. Chadha, 1983) But that's what the deal concocted last week did temporarily, and what Schumer's proposal would lock into place.

Once Congress cedes its control of borrowing, debate on the nation's indebtedness will disappear from the headlines. How politically convenient for the pro-spending party and the spend-a-holic president.

Even with Congress monitoring this president's borrowing, Obama has increased the national debt by over 60% in a mere five years. As of this August, federal debt exceeded our entire national output (GDP). Only a handful of other countries — such as Greece, Italy, Spain, Japan, Iceland, and Jamaica — share that badge of fiscal shame.

The public would already be feeling the impact if the president were not on an interest rate honeymoon. The average rate paid for government obligations is a tiny 1.98%, a third of what it was in 2000. When the rates go up, as they inevitably will, servicing the debt could claim 30% or 40% of tax revenues instead of the current 10%. Republican opposition is probably sufficient to stop Schumer's bill. Nevertheless, these persistent attempts to elude congressional control over borrowing signal a fundamental problem. Though members of Congress take an oath to uphold the Constitution, they don't mean it.

Schumer claims his proposal will protect against a debt default when Congress and the president disagree. It's a dangerous remedy. It plays into what President Obama apparently aspires to do — govern by edict. As he has said numerous times, when Congress won't go along with what he wants, he will get it done on his own.

Our system of checks and balances was designed to protect us from such executive overreach.

Fwd: Texas Dad Not Happy After He Says School Slapped His Son With In-School Suspension for Wearing This 'Intolerable' T-Shirt

Texas Dad Not Happy After He Says School Slapped His Son With In-School Suspension for Wearing This 'Intolerable' T-Shirt

Oct. 23, 2013 5:28pm Liz Klimas

The litany of students getting in trouble for wearing T-shirts featuring images of guns continues, this time taking us down to Texas.

Andy Davidson told TheBlaze Wednesday he is proud his son stood up for his rights, choosing in-school suspension instead of taking off a T-shirt that Davidson claims school officials found offensive.

The green shirt worn by Christian Davidson, an eighth-grade student at Spring Hill Middle School in Longview, Texas, had an eagle printed in yellow on the front with a Bible verse on the back, an American flag on the left sleeve and the apparently controversial words on the left.

A Texas dad claims his son chose to serve a suspension rather than change this shirt that included the words "God Guns Country" and a Bible verse on it. (Image source: Andy Davidson)

The verse was Romans 13:12, which states "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."

The left shoulder of the shirt, which was designed by the father's own company Maker's Militia, has the words "God," "guns" and "country" stacked.

Andy Davidson said the vice principal spotted his son's shirt as he was approaching the school Tuesday morning.

"He said he had been waiting for him to wear that shirt again," Davidson said.

Christian was led to principal Kathy Parker's office where he was told he could either flip his shirt inside out or wear a school-issued shirt over it.

"I teach my son to obey the law until the law imposed is quite unlawful."

Share:

"My son refused both," Davidson said.

"The shirt they were going to give him was 3XL, orange inmate shirt," he added, noting his son is a medium in size. "He stood his ground and it makes me proud."

Maker's Militia is Davidson's own clothing brand, which he designs with messages based on his faith and political beliefs. He never thought a "God, Guns, Country" slogan would cause a problem at his son's school. (Image source: Maker's Militia/Facebook)

He said administrators then told Christian to call his parents so that they might bring him another shirt. Davidson drove promptly to the school and said he proceeded to have an hour-long discussion about his son's right to wear the shirt.

The school did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze about Davidson's claims of the T-shirt incident.

"(Parker) said what my son was wearing was intolerable attire," Davidson said.

According to the ISD's student handbook, clothing cannot have "pictures, logos, phrases, letters or words printed on them that are obscene, suggestive, crude or immoral in the judgment of the administration."

More specifically, these could include "nude/semi-nude figures, pictures or logos of alcoholic beverages and tobacco; obscene gestures; curse words; slang words; portrayal of drug paraphernalia; figures in suggestive postures; skulls and crossbones; and macabre words or graphics."

Though no specific mention of firearms or guns is included, Davidson said the principal said it was within her discretion to make this judgment.

"She told me she thought it was best to keep the shirt away from other students," Davidson said. "She thought it was offensive and could incite fear among the students."

Instead of taking off the shirt, Christian served an in-school suspension, meaning he was not allowed to go to class that day. Davidson called it "solitary confinement."

What's more, Davidson claimed that Parker said if his son's behavior persisted — if he chose to wear the shirt again or one with a similar theme — he would face increasing punishments.

But Davidson doesn't see how it's a behavioral issue.

"It's a First Amendment issue," he said.

And Davidson said his son plans to wear shirts like this again, ignoring the threat of more punishment at school.

"He's not purposely trying to disobey authority. I teach my son to obey the law until the law imposed is quite unlawful," Davidson said.

Davidson started the faith-based and political clothing brand Maker's Militia in 2012, basing designs on his beliefs. He said he never thought this shirt would get a reaction from the school like it apparently did.

"There's nothing that would suggest violence. The shirt is very much about loving the country," he said.

As a parent going forward, Davidson said he's joining a local parents' rights group to draft a petition that not only voices a complaint about instances like this but also against the school allegedly teaching a C-Scope curriculum, even though it was banned in the state earlier this year.

"Emotional opposition to some words or ideas that some have do not legally or morally override someone's rights," Davidson said of the message the petition will send.

Fwd: “Thought Police” Ban All Words

"Thought Police" Ban All Words

Posted by Victoria Jackson on October 23, 2013 at 11:10 pm

Seattle is considering banning the words "brown bag" and "citizen" because the words offend black people and illegals.

Daniel Greenfield responds, "When Seattle one day gets around to banning all words, because language is inherently offensive to the illiterate, and everyone is reduced to communicating with grunts and emphatic gestures, an era of true tolerance and nomadic lifestyles will be upon us." That is hilarious Daniel! Well said.

George Orwell's "1984″ prophecy is coming true. Freedom of Speech is dying. Censorship is growing. Controlling language = controlling thoughts. Controlling thoughts is mind control. Zombies. Robots. The walking dead.

When I grew up, I was banned from using certain words, not by the government, but by my father. I was banned from saying God's name in vain, or using it as a curse word. I was also banned from saying euphemisms for God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, i.e. "golly," "gee," "gee-whiz," "gosh," "holy cow," etc. I wasn't allowed to say the "f" word, or the "n" word, or "sh**," or even "crap." I didn't want to. I respected God and my parents and others.

Proverbs 18:21
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue…"

Dad said that the only biological systems used as 'cuss' words were the reproductive and the excretory systems. He said the human body was a magnificent masterpiece (Psalm 139) and that using body parts in a derogatory fashion was blasphemous to God, the Creator. I love that. I love that Dad taught me to respect God and the human body, mine and others'. Words are powerful. Using bad language affects your personality and your behavior.

I taught my children the same. We don't say "f-a-r-t." I told my daughter that saying "f-a-r-t" would lead to saying "f-*-*-k", which would lead to smoking, then drinking, then alcohol, pot, cocaine, and then heroin. She said, "You're telling me that if I say, "f-a-r-t," I'll become a heroin addict?!" I replied, "Yes." She said, "Can I say "fert"?

If you can't control your tongue, you can't control anything.

However, the current governmental movement to control our speech is not based on morality or Biblical principles or even kindness. It is part of a larger agenda from the Progressives/Communists to control everything. Our media is controlled by the government. Our public education. Our money. Our health care…maybe. (Obamacare will probably crash). Our smoking areas. Our soda and caloric intake. What I bring on a plane. What I pack on a trip. What I wear on my head in my Driver's License photo. What we post on the Internet. And now, our words. Our thoughts.

Speech controls our ideology. By making it "racist" to say "Oriental" instead of "Asian," or to change the name of the Cleveland "Indians" baseball team, or to say "African-American" instead of just "American" is pushing multiculturalism which is globalism, a one world (socialist/communist) government.

Omitting the words "Islam," "jihad," and "Muslim" from the CIA, FBI, and media reports on terrorist activities like the Ft. Hood shooting changes our war from America against Islamic Jihad, to America against any "extremist" religious belief system. And, who determines what "extreme" is? Harry Reid, Pelosi and Obama continually preach that the Tea Party/conservatives/Christians are "dangerous." They are using words to deceive, to change the enemy, to redirect focus, and move the target.

Using "gay" instead of "homosexual" changes the attitude of a behavior from 'deviant' to 'happy.'

Mikey Weinstein trying to remove "So help me God" from the Air Force Academy oath, and atheists trying to remove crosses from the Ground Zero Monument, and other places, and to remove the phrase "under God" from our Pledge of Allegiance….

Words.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." John 1

Fwd: Islam's Useful Idiots

Islam's Useful Idiots

download                        The biggest "Useful Idiot" in the world now.

Islam enjoys a large and influential ally among the non—Muslims: A new generation of 'Useful Idiots,' the sort of people Lenin identified living in liberal democracies who furthered the work of communism. This new generation of Useful Idiots also lives in liberal democracies, but serves the cause of Islamofascism—another virulent form of totalitarian ideology.

Useful Idiots are naive, foolish, ignorant of facts, unrealistically idealistic, dreamers, willfully in denial or deceptive. They hail from the ranks of the chronically unhappy, the anarchists, the aspiring revolutionaries, the neurotics who are at war with life, the disaffected alienated from government, corporations, and just about any and all institutions of society. The Useful Idiot can be a billionaire, a movie star, an academe of renown, a politician, or from any other segment of the population.

Arguably, the most dangerous variant of the Useful Idiot is the 'Politically Correct.' He is the master practitioner of euphemism, hedging, doubletalk, and outright deception.

The Useful Idiot derives satisfaction from being anti—establishment. He finds perverse gratification in aiding the forces that aim to dismantle an existing order, whatever it may be: an order he neither approves of nor he feels he belongs to.

The Useful Idiot is conflicted and dishonest. He fails to look inside himself and discover the causes of his own problems and unhappiness while he readily enlists himself in causes that validate his distorted perception.

Understandably, it is easier to blame others and the outside world than to examine oneself with an eye to self—discovery and self—improvement. Furthermore, criticizing and complaining—liberal practices of the Useful Idiot—require little talent and energy. The Useful Idiot is a great armchair philosopher and 'Monday Morning Quarterback.'

The Useful Idiot is not the same as a person who honestly has a different point of view. A society without honest and open differences of views is a dead society. Critical, different and fresh ideas are the life blood of a living society—the very anathema of autocracies where the official position is sacrosanct.

Even a 'normal' person spends a great deal more energy aiming to fix things out there than working to overcome his own flaws and shortcomings, or contribute positively to the larger society. People don't like to take stock of what they are doing or not doing that is responsible for the conditions they disapprove.

But the Useful Idiot takes things much farther. The Useful Idiot, among other things, is a master practitioner of scapegoating. He assigns blame to others while absolving himself of responsibility, has a long handy list of candidates for blaming anything and everything, and by living a distorted life, he contributes to the ills of society.

The Useful Idiot may even engage in willful misinformation and deception when it suits him. Terms such as 'Political Islam,' or 'Radical Islam,' for instance, are contributions of the Useful Idiot. These terms do not even exist in the native parlance of Islam, simply because they are redundant. Islam, by its very nature and according to its charter—the Quran—is a radicalpolitical movement. It is the Useful Idiot who sanitizes Islam and misguides the populace by saying that the 'real Islam' constitutes the main body of the religion; and, that this main body is non—political and moderate.

Regrettably, a large segment of the population goes along with these nonsensical euphemisms depicting Islam because it prefers to believe them. It is less threatening to believe that only a hijacked small segment of Islam is radical or politically driven and that the main body of Islam is indeed moderate and non—political.

But Islam is political to the core. In Islam the mosque and state are one and the same—the mosque is the state. This arrangement goes back to the days of Muhammad himself. Islam is also radical in the extreme. Even the 'moderate' Islam is radical in its beliefs as well as its deeds. Muslims believe that all non—Muslims, bar none, are hellfire bound and well—deserve being maltreated compared to believers.

No radical barbaric act of depravity is unthinkable for Muslims in dealing with others. They have destroyed precious statues of Buddha, leveled sacred monuments of other religions, and bulldozed the cemeteries of non—Muslims—a few examples of their utter extreme contempt toward others.

Muslims are radical even in their intrafaith dealings. Various sects and sub—sects pronounce other sects and sub—sects as heretics worthy of death; women are treated as chattel, deprived of many rights; hands are chopped for stealing even a loaf of bread; sexual violation is punished by stoning, and much much more. These are standard day—to—day ways of the mainstream 'moderate' Muslims living under the stone—age laws of Sharia.

The 'moderate' mainstream of Islam has been outright genocidal from inception. Their own historians record that Ali, the first imam of the Shiite and the son—in—law of Muhammad, with the help of another man, beheaded 700 Jewish men in the presence of the Prophet himself. The Prophet of Allah and his disciples took the murdered men's women and children in slavery. Muslims have been, and continue to be, the most vicious and shameless practitioners of slavery. The slave trade, even today, is a thriving business in some Islamic lands where wealthy, perverted sheikhs purchase children of the poor from traffickers for their sadistic gratification.

Muslims are taught deception and lying in the Quran itself—something that Muhammad practiced during his life whenever he found it expedient. Successive Islamic rulers and leaders have done the same. Khomeini, the founder of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, for instance, rallied the people under the banner of democracy. All along his support for democracy was not a commitment of an honest man, but a ruse. As soon as he gathered the reins of power, Khomeini went after the Useful Idiots of his time with vengeance. These best children of Iran, having been thoroughly deceived and used by the crafty phony populist—religionist, had to flee the country to avoid the fate of tens of thousands who were imprisoned or executed by the double—crossing imam.

Almost three decades after the tragic Islamic Revolution of 1979, the suffocating rule of Islam casts its death—bearing pal over Iranians. A proud people with enviable heritage is being systematically purged of its sense of identity and forced to think and behave like the barbaric and intolerant Muslims. Iranians who had always treated women with equality, for instance, have seen them reduced by the stone—age clergy to sub—human status of Islamic teaching. Any attempt by the women of Iran to counter the misogynist rule of Muhammad's mullahs is mercilessly suppressed. Women are beaten, imprisoned, raped and killed just as men are slaughtered without due process or mercy.

The lesson is clear. Beware of the Useful Idiots who live in liberal democracies. Knowingly or unknowingly, they serve as the greatest volunteer and effective soldiers of Islam. They pave the way for the advancement of Islam and they will assuredly be among the very first victims of Islam as soon as it assumes power.
