Healthcare.flub: ObamaCare Site Used 10-20-Yr-Old Technology/Code; Designed By Detroit Crony From Obama Campaign

By Debbie Schlussel

Imagine you need open heart surgery. Would you want your surgeon to use ten-year-old medical technology and knowledge? Would you want him to use equipment designed by his crony-ette who helped him win the hospital chief of staff vote? Well, that's exactly what Obama did with the healthcare.gov website. And it's a bad omen for the kind of medicine–including open heart surgery–you'll be getting.

Bend Over Some More

We already know that everything Obama said was a lie–keeping your doctor if you like him/her, keeping your current healthcare insurance policy if you like it, cheaper premiums, etc. And, now, we know that Obama used ten year old technology and coding for the malfunctioning joke of a website. Hey, why not employ cassette tapes and Betamaxes in your angioplasty operations!

And we also know that he awarded the design of the site to Jessica Teal, the Detroit-area chick who designed the Obama Hope and Change campaign website.

* The antiquated technology:

The federal health care exchange was built using 10-year-old technology that may require constant fixes and updates for the next six months and the eventual overhaul of the entire system, technology experts told USA TODAY. The site could be perfect, but if the systems from which it draws data are not up to speed, it doesn't matter, said John Engates, chief technology officer at Rackspace, a cloud computer service provider. "It is a core problem in the sense of it's fundamental to this thing actually working, but it's not necessarily a problem that the people who wrote HealthCare.gov can get to," Engates said. "Even if they had a perfect system, it still won't work." . . .

"I have never seen a website — in the last five years — require you to delete the cache in an effort to resolve errors," said Dan Schuyler, a director at Leavitt Partners, a health care group by former Health and Human Services secretary Mike Leavitt. "This is a very early Web 1.0 type of fix." "The application could be fundamentally flawed," said Jeff Kim, president of CDNetworks, a content-delivery network. "They may be using 1990s technology in 2.0 world."

Outsiders acknowledged they can't see the whole system, but they said they feared HHS built a system that will need an expensive overhaul that would cause more headaches for people trying to buy insurance.

* The Cronyette ObamaCare Capitalism – Jessica Teal From Obama's Dope & Cringe Re-Election Campaign:

Visit the website of Michigan-based design firm Teal Media today and you'd never know designers there helped create HealthCare.gov, the troubled online portal for Obamacare. Just a few days ago, the site looked very different. Teal Media's homepage featured its work on Obamacare prominently, placing a link to the firm's work on one of the most well-known websites in America front and center. Now that link, as well as the page devoted to Teal's work on HealthCare.gov, have been removed. . . .

Teal Media doesn't seem interested in talking about its work on HealthCare.gov. A woman who answered the phone at the company's headquarters immediately referred BuzzFeed to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) at the Department of Health And Human Services (HHS) before a single question was asked. CMS is listed as Teal's client on the firm's now-erased HealthCare.gov page. When asked about the changed content on the Teal Media site, the woman said that was done 'in consultation with HHS," and again referred a reporter to CMS. . . .

Teal Media is led by a prominent former member of President Obama's celebrated digital campaign team, Jessica Teal. She was Design Manager for Obama's 2008 campaign, a job that, according to her LinkedIn profile, put her in charge of "the official campaign website and microsites, web/email-based fundraising campaigns, state and constituency literature, large-scale signage and event materials, and special projects."

Teal's firm lists many prominent clients in Democratic politics and the government, including the Democratic National Committee, EMILY's List, the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission. Teal Media's role in the design of HealthCare.gov was heralded when the firm signed on. The Verge described the company as a "hip design house," and reported that the design Teal and other consultants came up with was one of the few good things about the Obamacare portal.

A couple of days after that report appeared, Teal Media suddenly put its work for Healthcare.flub back on its site.

Regardless of the smoke and mirrors campaign, ObamaCare is an unmitigated disaster. Just wait 'til you need a heart surgeon under ObamaCare. Think that will be a more successful experience?

Don't count on it. And make sure your Last Will and Testament is prepared and signed.

FEDS AND SOME STATES ARE MILITARIZING AMERICAN POLICING

American communities continue to be increasingly policed by law enforcement officers armed with the weapons and tactics of war, according to the left-wing activists at the American Civil Liberties Union.

However, utilization of military equipment by local police departments throughout the United States – some call it the "militarization" of American policing – has been going on for quite some time. Now, observers ask whether this trend might have repercussions that are making citizens uneasy, according to a Homeland Security Newswire report on Monday.

Police departments generally receive the equipment for free, according to the report. "The gear being sent to local police includes planes, helicopters, armored vehicles, grenade launchers, assault rifles, bullet-proof helmets, night-vision goggles, and more. A few sheriff departments ordered tanks," the report states.

Last year's authorization act all but erases decades of U.S. government compliance with the letter and the spirit of the Posse Comitatus Act 1878, a law that prohibits the use of the U.S. military to perform law enforcement functions within the United States, according to an Examiner news story that quotes police officials and others opposed to the militarizing of American law enforcement.

Provisions in last year's authorization act allow military reservists -- Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines -- to be called to duty and deployed in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency within the homeland, as well as mobilization of reserve units to support counterterrorism and security missions overseas, according to the American Forces Press Service's Donna Miles.

"Except for a crisis involving a weapon of mass destruction, the reserves historically have been prohibited from providing a homeland disaster response," Army Lt. General Jack C. Stultz, the Army Reserve chief, told reporters.

Originally, such deployments were the duty of National Guard, which are under the control of state governors who would call in guardsman as needed to support civil police forces, fire departments and other emergency personnel.

However, when Hurricane Katrina fiercely struck the Gulf Coast in 2005, especially the city of New Orleans, active-duty service members became "the federal default force," according to Miles.

But the reason for that deployment was the inability of Louisiana's governor and New Orleans' mayor to command and control the police and emergency responders. Now the U.S. Congress and the Obama Administration have acquired the authority to use military resources in such emergencies, including deploying soldiers during an insurrection.

"Is anyone surprised at this latest disregard for the constitution and tradition? The military forces in the U.S., Canada and Mexico have been training in urban warfare and response to terrorist threats such as weapons of mass destruction (WMD) scenarios," said police lieutenant Walter Ingram of the Morningside, N.Y., police department.

Ingram also noted that "the Bush Administration and congress toyed with the idea of practically militarizing FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Administration). which is basically a 'bean-counting' agency. But that idea went nowhere."

But General Stultz is gung-ho about the new authorization. "In a lot of cases, there were reserve-component soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who were close at hand with the capabilities needed, but didn't have the authority to act," he said. "Finally, we got the law changed. This new legislation says that now we can use Title 10 reserves."

For these forces to be used, the law specifies that the Commander in Chief -- President Barack Obama --must declare an emergency or disaster and a state governor must request the assistance.

Stultz clarified what hasn't changed under the law: civil authorities will remain the first responders. And when they need military support, National Guard forces will be the first to step in when called by their state governor. "We are not trying to change any of that," the general said.

But now, when a situation also demands a federal response, reserve forces can step in to assist for up to 120 days, added Miles.

However, political strategist Mike Baker is confused about the lack of news coverage and lack of controversy over the prospect of giving the U.S. warfighters so much leeway in operating within U.S. borders.

Tying the Knot Under ObamaCare

By Eileen F. Toplansky

The heinous intrusions into our lives as a result of ObamaCare swell each day. Now, in true Marxist form, the ludicrously named "Affordable Care Act" mounts an all-out attack on marriage. In 2010, in a Web Memo, the Heritage Foundation pointed out that

Under the bill, couples would face massive financial penalties if they marry or remain married. Conversely, couples who cohabit without marriage are given highly preferential financial treatment. If the Senate bill becomes law, saying 'I do' would cost some couples over $10,000 per year.

In fact, the "... anti-marriage penalties and heavy 'cohabitation bonuses [were] built into the Senate ObamaCare bill [.]'" Furthermore, "low income couples are not immune from the bill's aggressive wedding taxes. A 60-year old husband and wife, each with an income of $15,000 would pay over $4,000 per year if they remain married. Put in other terms, the government would offer an annual bonus of $4,212 if the couple divorces and then cohabits."

Well, ObamaCare is now law and the effects are being felt nationwide. As a continuing job killer, ObamaCare will now adversely impact clergy, wedding halls, caterers, musicians, singers, floral arrangers, and other party planners.

Consequently, "an all-out war on 'old and outdated' institutions like marriage and family" is being conducted "so dominance of the state can be achieved." In communist Russia this was euphemistically known as "unions of affection and comradeship."

In Russia in 1920, abortion on demand arrived. Hence, how convenient that via ObamaCare, every American must now pay for someone else's abortion -- a direct assault on religious freedom. Thus, the state's monstrous power keeps enlarging under the dictator occupying the White House.

Monica Showalter in her article entitled "Five Ways Lenin's Propaganda Destroyed Marriage and the Family in Russia" describes how Lenin destroyed the traditional family structure as his tyranny affected women through high-sounding propaganda. Eventually, however, the women who were lured into idealizing Lenin, found that their rights and their wages disappeared, thereby making them "wards of the state."

Thus, the idea behind breaking down the family was that women without husbands could be socialized more easily. In practical terms this meant [that] men were free to leave their wives and abandon their responsibilities.

How ironic that Obama's policies "most directly hurt women," Thus, ObamaCare essentially "eliminates consumer driven health insurance with health savings accounts which was the fastest growing choice... for women."

In addition, women see doctors more often than men, but now they will be "subjected to the consequences of ObamaCare edicts [.]" Mammogram screenings were to be reduced until a hue and cry arose wherein this was rescinded showing that ultimately "the federal government has the power to giveth and taketh away." And as has been publicized, women who were covered as dependents through their husband's employer-sponsored health insurance are losing their coverage when their husband's employer drops coverage.

Moreover, more than half of all Medicare beneficiaries are women. But ObamaCare cuts Medicare payments. Thus, "by 2019 [the cuts] will be so draconian that payments will be even lower than Medicaid, a system in which doctors already lose money and... refuse to accept patients."

Communism has always seen the home as "potentially subversive." Communists long to see natural ties between mother and child "severed so that the state becomes the dominant force." This president's communist ties dominated his life; he is merely following in their footsteps.

Moreover, Obama, who without consent of Congress and in his now systematic assault on the Constitution eliminated the work requirement of the welfare program -- the one element of the welfare program that moved people off dependency. By reversing this policy, the dependency-inducing welfare industry which undermines the importance of fathers, has been given a boost.

Obama is setting America on the same path as Lenin did for Russia almost 100 years ago.  Recall that we now have 48 million Americans on welfare as a result of Obama's economic policies. Couple this with the "work disincentives" embedded in ObamaCare where "many will conclude that earning extra money isn't worth it, or will strive mightily to find ways to earn income under the table" and American opportunity is further eroded.

In Showalter's article, the word "community organizer" pops up and one learns that "Lenin dispatched Kollontai to set up the Zhenotdel, a communist organizing group financed by the Communist Party for agitation and propaganda of the new model." Recall the Occupy Wall Street movement, the newly renamed Acorn Party, and even the current despicable bid by Obama to get donations to help fund ObamaCare all packaged as a charitable approach to help him and his cronies.

Obama and the Democratic Party continue to cast aspersions on Tea Party conservatives because they know that these conservatives see right through their linguistic double talk. Those who try to shed light on Obama's covert and overt attacks on this country will continue to be isolated and excoriated because they elucidate the historical truths of the past.

So when socialism fails, as it always does, the "socialists blame funding." Consequently, once Lenin had ensnared women into the state controlled system as a result of his lies, the women sadly did not blame the ideas of the state controlled government; instead "they went to the state for not distributing enough money." Government gives, government takes away, and then government gives again. In Obamaland, some 47 million food stamp recipients are having their benefits cut in a month and don't even realize it. This is "the essence of ObamaCare. Government has the ultimate authority over health care decisions because government decides what must be included in health insurance and who must pay for it." Echoes of the past are coming to haunt America.

Lest one argue that Lenin's ideas are no longer potent, recall that the "legacy of the social wreckage continues to this day. Russia still ranks No. 1 in the world in both divorces and abortions."

This ObamaCare wedding tax, is of course, a boon to divorce attorneys as the government demolishes the sanctity of marriage. Collette Caprara at The Foundry asserts that "the impact of this discrimination will affect couples at every income level and creates a scenario in which couples' wisest financial decision would be to divorce or to forgo tying the knot." How perverse is this?

If ObamaCare is not completely dismantled, this profound bias against marriage asserts that "married couples are second class citizens." Consequently the law establishes cohabiters as "a privileged special interest, quietly channeling tens of thousands of dollars to them in preferential government bonuses." In addition, this wedding tax is a spiritual violation that Obama and the Democrats are only too glad to inflict upon Americans. Same sex married couples should take heed of this as well.

Eric Hoffer in his 1951 book entitled The True Believer writes that "one of the most potent attractions of a mass movement is its offering of a substitute for individual hope" (15). Obama and the Democrats keep undermining Americans ability to succeed, inculcating the idea that there is no future in America unless it is totally guided by the government. Obama continues to destroy individual hope when jobs are scarce, college tuition is exorbitant, unemployment benefits are worth more than solid, honest work -- each of these disaffects far too many Americans who see no future before them.

Obama, an ideologue who is "so fanatically committed to this cause that no amount of reality can make him abandon it" keeps offering his empty "hope and change" speech. But, as the evidence mounts and the facts become known, it is up to us to come out of our stupor and halt this battering ram that is deliberately grinding down the people. It is equally important to remember Pascal's advice that "...the embarrassment wherein [a person] finds himself produces in him the most unjust and criminal passions imaginable, for he conceives a mortal hatred against that truth which blames him and convinces him of his faults." As Obama is thwarted, be prepared for the true vision of this demagogue.

There are so many reasons to abort ObamaCare completely -- the assault on marriage is now one more.

Fwd: Think you can keep your health care ? In 2014 that'll change

Doing his best to brainwash Americans into accepting Obamacare, our honest
president kept telling everyone that they would be able to keep their
present health plans when Obamacare went into effect.  This promise will go
down in the list of his many other broken promises and perhaps one of his
biggest lies.

According to a recent report, more than 1 million Americans have already
been notified that their current private health insurance policies are being
cancelled due to the implementation of Obamacare.  If health-policy expert
Bob Laszewski is right, this is only the tip of the iceberg.  He says that
nearly 16 million Americans will have their current plans cancelled due
to....

Why, may you ask?

Laszewski points out that there are about 19 million Americans with their
own private health insurance policies.  Obamacare does have a grandfather
clause to allow existing policies to remain in effect, but that clause has
very strict requirements.  In fact the grandfathering requirements are so
strict that it will only cover about 15% of the 19 million private policies.
The remaining 85% of existing policies, just over 16 million, fail to meet
the grandfathering requirements, meaning that they will all be cancelled
thanks to Obamacare.

Insurance companies around the country are already dropping policies like
mad and it's all due to Obamacare.  Here is a list of some of those
companies and what they are dropping:

Blue Cross in New Jersey dropping 800,000 policies.
Aetna in New Jersey reporting that 1.1 million policies are at risk.
Blue Cross in Florida dropping 300,000 policies.
California has around 500,000 people with catastrophic plans that don't
comply with Obamacare.
Blue Cross in Louisiana dropped Medicare D prescription plan, affecting
13,000 senior citizens.
Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield dropping Medicaid and Family Health Plus
programs, affecting 13,000 people.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield sent letters to all of their policy
holders warning them that any policies that don't meet the Obamacare
grandfathering requirements will be cancelled in 2014.  Numbers were not
released.
Medical Mutual of Ohio has completely pulled out of South Carolina,
dropping 28,000 policies.

In the next month or two, we will see that list grow considerably.  So
remember the next time you hear President Obama say that you'll be able to
keep your existing plans, remember that he is a liar 16 million times over.
Wouldn't it be great if all 16 million Americans that lose their health plan
due to Obamacare, congregate in front of the White House.
They need to surround the White House and hold it captive until Obama is
forced to stand by his word and allow all of these cancelled policies to
remain in effect.

Or president Obama

A different breed of Dog
.

I Just Realized Something:

My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.

He has his food prepared for him.

His meals are provided at no cost to him.

He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup and again during the year, if any medical needs arise.
For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.

He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.

If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.

He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.
He receives these accommodations absolutely free.
He is living like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.

All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living.

I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks ~

MY dog is a CONGRESSMAN!!!

Re: NORTHBOUND ON I-5

These bill boards are an American tradition. How many recall the "IMPEACH IKE" billboards sponsored by the John Birch Society many years ago? Wonder what ever happened the J B Society......anyone out there knows?

PRICELESS DON'T YOU THINK?

NORTHBOUND ON I-5
You want to see something better than Burma Shave signs?
These are Northbound on I-5 (88 miles south of Seattle).
The federal government is now petitioning to have these signs removed, or
Washington state will be denied additional monies for interstate highways.
The State of Washington replied that they will secede from the Union rather
Than be intimidated. These are a matter of free speech paid for by a private
citizen. It seems the Obama government uses intimidation and ignores the first amendment when they want to silence someone. These signs are priceless.
Bravo for the man who created them. We need more like him.
Bravo for the state of Washington!

Don't Forget Obamacare's Electronic Medical Records Wreck

October 23, 2013 - 4:42 AM

By Michelle Malkin

Dr. Nicholas DiNubile, a Philadelphia orthopedic surgeon, has a timely reminder for everyone encountering the federal health care exchange meltdown: "If you think signing up for Obamacare is a nightmare, ask your doctor how the EMR mandate is going."

Bingo.

The White House finally acknowledged the spectacular public disaster of Obamacare's Internet exchange infrastructure during Monday's Rose Garden infomercial. But President Shamwow and his sales team are AWOL on the bureaucratic ravages of the federal electronic medical records mandate. Modernized data collection is a worthy goal, of course. But distracted doctors are seeing "more pixels than patients," Dr. DiNubile observes, and the EMR edict is foisting "dangerous user-unfriendly technology" on physicians and patients.

Instead of concentrating on care, doctors face exhausting regulatory battles over the definition of "meaningful use" of technology, skyrocketing costs and unwarranted Big Brother intrusions on the practice of medicine.

As I reported last year, Obamacare's top-down, tax-subsidized, job-killing, privacy-undermining electronic record-sharing scheme has been a big fat bust. More than $4 billion in "incentives" has been doled out to force doctors and hospitals to convert and upgrade by 2015. But favored EMR vendors, including Obama bundler Judy Faulkner's Epic Systems, have undermined rather than enhanced interoperability. Oversight remains lax. And after hyping the alleged benefits for nearly a decade, the RAND Corporation finally 'fessed up that its cost-savings predictions of $81 billion a year — used repeatedly to support the Obama EMR mandate — were (like every other Obamacare promise) vastly overstated.

In June, the Annals of Emergency Medicine published a study warning that the "rush to capitalize on the huge federal investment of $30 billion for the adoption of electronic medical records led to some unfortunate and unintended consequences" tied to "communication failure, poor data display, wrong order/wrong patient errors and alert fatigue." Also this summer, Massachusetts reported that 60 percent of doctors could not meet the EMR mandate and face potential loss of their licenses in 2015. And a few weeks ago, the American College of Physicians pleaded with the feds to delay the mandate's data collection, certification and reporting requirements.

Dr. Hayward K. Zwerling, an internal medicine physician in Massachusetts who is also president of ComChart Medical Software, blasted the Obamacare EMR mandate in a recent open letter: "As the developer of an EMR, I sincerely believe that a well-designed EMR is a useful tool for many practices. However, the federal and state government's misguided obsession to stipulate which features must be in the EMRs, and how the physician should use the EMRs in the exam room places the politicians in the middle of the exam room between the patient and the physician, and seriously disrupts the physician-patient relationship." Zwerling's call to arms appealed to fellow doctors to pressure the feds to repeal the mandate. "It is past time that physicians reclaim control of their offices, if not the practice of medicine."

As I've mentioned previously, my own primary care physician in Colorado Springs quit her regular practice and converted to "concierge care" because of the EMR imposition. Dr. Henry Smith, a Pennsylvania pulmonary doctor, also walked away. "Faced with the implementation costs and skyrocketing overhead in general," he told me, "I finally threw in the towel and closed my practice." He said, "As EMRs proliferate, and increased Medicare scrutiny looms, medical documentation is evolving from its original goal of recording what actually was going on with a patient, and what the provider was actually thinking, to sterile boilerplate documents designed to justify the highest billing codes."

Dr. Michael Laidlaw of Rocklin, Calif., told EHR Practice Consultants that he abandoned the Obamacare EMR "incentive" program "when I realized that I spent the first two to five minutes of each visit endlessly clicking a bunch of garbage to make all the green lights show up on the (meaningful use) meter. I said to myself: 'I'm not wasting precious seconds of my life and my patients' time to ensure some database gets filled with data. I didn't go into medicine for this. It is not benefiting my patients or me. I hate it.' I actually refused to take the $10K-plus this year. I have even accepted that I would rather be penalized in the future. What is worth the most to me is AUTONOMY."

Let me underscore that again: Doctors face steep penalties if they can't meet the radical technology goals imposed by the very same glitch-plagued Obamacare bureaucrats who now need an emergency "tech surge" to fix their own failed info-tech Titanic. The Obamacare wrecking ball has only just begun.
