Black Mob Violence: New Denials... and New Violence

By Colin Flaherty

NBC News and the Associated Press want you to know there is no such thing as black mob violence. Especially in the hundreds of cases of Knockout Game now receiving so much attention in local and national media across the country.

Ditto the Washington Post, ABC News and the Philadelphia Inquirer. And this weekend, the New York Times.

The rules of the Knockout Game are simple: Gather a group of black people. Find a white person. An Asian will do. Punch them in the face until they are knocked out. Or dead. Or your arms get tired.

If you relied on local and national news accounts, you would not know the violence has a racial component. But the video solves that problem.

Many episodes of black mob violence and mayhem -- including the Knockout Game -- are recorded on video and posted on YouTube. Or Facebook. Or even bragged about on Twitter

Many are documented in White Girl Bleed a Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore it.

But that does not matter much to NBC and AP. Heck, the New York Times says the Knockout Game is probably just an "urban legend."

With one difference: This time we have Big Foot on Video. Thousands of them.

But that does not matter to the deniers. As part of the flurry of news stories surrounding the Knockout Game this week, media outlets trotted out a psychologist who says ignore the video. Ignore the overwhelming evidence of black mob violence. There's no pattern in the predators. Or in the white and Asian victims:

"It's hard to excuse this behavior, there's no purpose to this," Jeffrey Butts, a psychologist specializing in juvenile delinquency, told the AP. "When someone runs into a store and demands money, you can sort of understand why they're doing it, desperation, whatever.

But just hitting someone for the sheer thrill of seeing if you can knock someone out is just childish."

This model of denial of the racial component of black mob violence is popularized in dozens of seminars around the country every year at local and national chapters of the National Association of Professional Journalists.
Their advice for covering racial violence? Don't.

It also echoes what Jesse Washington, AP's race reporter, told your humble correspondent about racial violence after the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon Martin. No such thing, quoth he. At least not black on white.

More and more national and local news outlets are picking up the beat: Despite the avalanche of news stories on the Knockout Game, most still ignore the central organizing feature of the violence: The attackers are black -- and the victims are not.

Stop the Presses: This week, a white person was involved in a Knockout Game in Philadelphia. And an Arab played Knockout with a Jew in Brooklyn. So "all" is no longer correct. The new number is this: 99.98 percent of the attackers are black.

NBC affiliates around the country got into the act last week as well. After ignoring dozens of recent examples of black mob violence over the last two years, NBC weighed in with yet another shrink:

People with Type T personalities, which characterizes risk-takers and thrill-seekers, are motivated to commit violent acts, like smacking strangers in public, according to Professor of Educational Pyschology Frank Farley.

"Many of the perpetrators may be these T types and one of their things is pushing the envelope," Farley told NBC Philadelphia. "It's risky to go up and slap someone in public."

NBC and its witch doctor may be unclear about the level and intensity of racial violence across the country. But the readers at the Washington Post are not. After a recent story about the Knockout Game in Washington, they unleashed a storm of critical fire at the paper for refusing to tell the truth about black mob violence.
Here's just one of many comments:

"It is amazing how the Washington Post can report about this phenomenon without the issue of racial violence coming up one into the discussion. It is a shame that honesty took a back seat to what is really going on here."

Philadelphia is center of denial as well as violence. The City of Brotherly Love has been the scene of more than 100 episodes of black mob violence over the last three years. Some resulting in permanent injury and death, many on video. It got so bad that two years ago, Mayor Michael Nutter went to a black church to plead with black people to stop the black mob violence.

More recently, local media has reported more than five recent cases of the Knockout Game in Philly. Black mob violence is also such a regular event at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia that a school staffer recently appeared on the local CBS affiliate to plead with parents and police for help with the violence and anarchy that are an everyday part of life at this black high school:

"It's mayhem. Students are in the halls, they're smoking in the bathroom; cigarettes, marijuana," said a worker at the school, who asked not to be identified. "We can't contain them and it's really hazardous for us working and these kids are not being educated at all."

"It's a zoo in here. Parents really need to come up here and see what's going on in this school because it's ridiculous," said the worker.

The staffers remarks echo earlier comments from 2010, when a federal judge found that black students at South Philadelphia High School had assaulted and harassed Asian students daily -- for years.

The principal said she did not call police because she did not want to "criminalize" the black students.

Even so, the Philadelphia Inquirer dutifully ignores the epidemic of black mob violence in schools, downtown, and the gentrified South Philadelphia neighborhood.

"But it's unclear if the trend even exists," said the paper this week.

The Inquirer received a Pulitzer last year for its reporting on violence in Philadelphia schools. But if you want to learn anything from the series about racial violence, bring your magnifying glass to read about it -- because most of the time the topic is discussed only to to minimize it. Or say how much better it is today than before -- when the Inquirer ignored it even more completely.

The upward trend of racial harmony was not clear to Steve Huber earlier this year when he wrote an article for Philadelphia Magazine titled "Being White in Philly." Huber talked about the unrelenting racial violence and the fear it creates among white people.

Mayor Nutter said the article was "disgusting" and called for an investigation by the City's Human Rights Commission.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, again, took a back seat on racial crime and violence: The article was seen as "dwelling on negative experiences that whites had with blacks that often fit into racial stereotypes."

Racial Journalism 101: Crime statistics are stereotypes. But leave them out and the story is "anecdotal." Best not to do anything. Class dismissed.

Marlin Newburn has seen and experienced black mob violence and black on white crime from many different angles: As a Detroit college student. A court appointed psychologist. A prison psychologist. He recently retired from 30 years in the criminal justice system, up close and personal with racial violence like the Knockout Game.

"The media's claim of racial non-discrimination borders on a comic-tragedy," Newburn said. "The simple response to their efforts to protect the Black Grievance Industry's false message is to note the race of the victims. From working with black felons over the years, one learns they share two common traits: Perpetuate the fantasy of black victimhood by the hands of whites, and to always be race loyal. Victims are chosen by race and ease of assault."

Thus the pattern where there is "no pattern."

US threatens to pull out all troops from Afghanistan

Karzai had outlined new conditions in the meeting with Rice

  • Reuters
  • Published: 16:05 November 26, 2013

Kabul/Washington: Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai has refused to sign a security deal with the US, the White House said, opening up the prospect of a complete withdrawal of US troops from the strife-torn nation next year.

Karzai told US National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Kabul on Monday that the US must put an immediate end to military raids on Afghan homes and demonstrate its commitment to peace talks before he would sign a bilateral security pact, Karzai's spokesman said.

The White House said Karzai had outlined new conditions in the meeting with Rice and "indicated he is not prepared to sign the promptly".

"Without a prompt signature, the US would have no choice but to initiate planning for a post-2014 future in which there would be no US or Nato troop presence in Afghanistan," a White House statement quoted Rice as saying.

The complete withdrawal, called the "zero option", would be similar to the pull-out of US troops from Iraq two years ago.

On Sunday, an assembly of Afghan elders, known as the Loya Jirga, endorsed the security pact, but Karzai suggested he might not sign it until after national elections next spring.

The impasse strengthens questions about whether any US and Nato troops will remain after the end of next year in Afghanistan, which faces a still-potent insurgency waged by Taliban militants and is still training its own military.

Karzai's defiance has surprised the many who had attended the Loya Jirga, which he had proclaimed would have the final word on the security deal.

A senior politician in Kabul said it appeared that Karzai's reluctance to let the deal go through stemmed from his eagerness to keep his hands on the levers of power in the run-up to a presidential election in April, when he is due to stand down.

"He is now in confrontation with his own nation as well as the United States," said the politician, who asked not to be named.

He added that the president's demand for no US meddling in the coming election suggested that Karzai could be looking to ensure he has room to influence the outcome himself.

Residual force

US and other foreign troops have been in Afghanistan since the ousting of the Taliban regime by US-backed Afghan forces in late 2001.

Just over two years ago, US President Barack Obama pulled the plug on talks with Iraq about keeping a residual American force there after that war. In October 2011, when he announced that decision, there were more than 40,000 troops in the country. By the end of the year, they had all been withdrawn.

In Afghanistan, there are still 47,000 American forces. The US has been in discussions with Afghan officials about keeping a small residual force of about 8,000 troops there after it winds down operations next year.

US officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry and Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel, have said the bilateral security deal with Afghanistan must be signed by year-end to begin preparations for a post-2014 presence.

Rice, who made a three-day visit to Afghanistan to visit US troops, told Karzai it was "not viable" to defer signing the deal until after the election, the White House said.

The delay "would not provide the United States and Nato allies the clarity necessary to plan for a potential post-2014 military presence", the White House said.

Karzai spokesman Aimal Faizi said the Afghan leader laid out several conditions for his signature to the deal in the meeting, including a US pledge to immediately halt all military raids on, or searches of, Afghan homes.

The Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) includes a provision allowing raids in exceptional circumstances - when an American life is directly under threat - but it would not take effect until 2015.

This issue is particularly sensitive among Afghans after a dozen years of war between Afghan and foreign forces and Taliban militants.

"It is vitally important that there is no more killing of Afghan civilians by US forces and Afghans want to see this practically," Faizi said.

Karzai also called on Washington to send remaining Afghan detainees at the US military detention centre in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, back to Afghanistan, saying that the Loya Jirga had endorsed the pact with this condition.

Faizi said Karzai also asked the US officials to guarantee that the US would refrain from endorsing any candidate in next year's election.

Karzai blamed the US for meddling in the 2009 presidential election, while his opponents accuse the president of using the pact to ensure his influence in next year's polls.

US officials have appeared exasperated by Karzai's stance on the security agreement, which they say is needed to help them plan a future mission that will assist Afghan forces fight militants and that will allow for future aid crucial for the impoverished nation.

The Obama administration has not said when it would make a decision to abandon the talks and commit to pulling all of its troops out of Afghanistan at the end of 2014, as it did in Iraq.

Faizi said the Afghan president had asked his American visitors to return to the US president with his message.

"The ball is in your court now, and get back to us," he said.

FEEL safe after walking through airport security? Don't. A US DIY hobbyist has proven you can build a "shotgun" out of components bought from your average lobby stores.

Silly or serious?

US computer technician Evan Booth has cobbled together an amateur arsenal in his spare time - and it is a deadly demonstration of the danger of a creative mind when applied to everyday objects.

"If we're trying stop a terrorist threat at the airport," says Booth. "It's already too late."

The amateur DIY security analyst was inspired to take up the task after being annoyed by the introduction of body scanners at check-in points.

"And if you're going to go through all that trouble getting into the terminal, why is all this stuff available in the terminal?" he asked of the goodies he bought and used in his weapon-making.

So exactly what "stuff" is so deadly?

The "Businessclass Blunderbuss" assembled from components purchased from behind the security gate at an airport.

Magazines.

Condoms.

Body spray.

Just to name a few.

And it's not just guns he's assembled. Want a bulletproof vest? The components will cost you a few dollars in a newsagency.

Nunchucks? Try the stuff you can find in that convenient souvenir store.

But the most explosive revelation is Booth's "Blunderbussiness Class shotgun".

The weapon hinges on one key component: Lithium batteries.

With a bit of loose change (as ammunition), Booth demonstrates how the gun can blow a hole in a piece of fibreboard wall.

Deadly impact: This blast from the DIY projectile weapon punched a coin-sized hole in a fibreboard wall.

Booth says he sent details of his makeshift weapons to the FBI and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), but received no response.

So, he posted video demonstrations of his weapons online to raise awareness.

This finally prompted a visit from the FBI.

We have opted not to show the full video - or write in detail about how he made the weapons above - to avoid encouraging copycat behaviour.

When the FBI came calling, Booth evaded arrest through a simple technicality: He had assembled the weapons in his garage - not the airport.

His subsequent attempts to get funding to make his research a serious project fell on deaf ears.

The FBI and TSA appear to have lost interest.

Now, Booth has turned his demonstrations into a security conference roadshow.

"I think people have kind of been suspecting that the type of things I've built are possible," Booth said. "I just don't think anyone's ever taken the time to do it."

Fwd: [W-H] Obama Recalls Moment He Heard JFK Was Shot (Scrappleface)

Obama Recalls Moment He Heard JFK Was Shot

November 22nd, 2013 Scott Ott

(2013-11-22) — On the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, President Obama recalled for reporters the moment he learned JFK had been slain.

"Like JFK, my grandfather served in the military," Mr. Obama said after a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. "And, of course, John Kennedy and I both served in the U.S. Senate and overcame America's deep-seated bigotry to win the presidency. Young and vigorous, we both garner praise for our speeches, and the way we drew the youth of the nation into the political process."

Pressed again by journalists to specify what he thought and felt at the actual moment when he heard Kennedy had been shot, Obama choked back his emotion and recalled, "I was sitting in my 10th-grade American history class when the teacher made the announcement. Everyone just fell silent. It was 1977, and we couldn't believe JFK was gone, Camelot was ended. I think they sent us home early that day. We were pretty shaken up."

The White House called for all Americans to commemorate Obama's historic remembrance of the tragedy by "finding some way to serve in your community, like organizing a voter-registration drive with your local SEIU chapter."

FSA terrorists attack ancient convent in Saidnaya, home of Syria's recently erected tallest Jesus statue. The Cherubim convent situated on the highest summit of the Qalamoun mountains has recently erected a towering Jesus statue in Syria, even larger than that in Rio de Janeiro. However, militants from the Obama-armed and funded Free Syrian Army (FSA) […]
