The Iranians are spilling so many beans, somebody is bound to trip and break something…

How can you tell when the White House is in a panic? When they recruit a disgraced has-been Israeli politician to go after Netanyahu's Iran message. It means they were unable to get President Shimon Peres to carry that bucket of water for them, which says a lot.

After revelations that the U.S. has been misleading two of its most loyal friends in the region, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and conducting secret talks with Iran even before the latter picked "moderate" Hassan Rouhani – it's not easy to find A-list Israelis to make fun of Bibi's "hysteria."

So Olmert agreed to do the deed, and told a conference of security experts on Sunday that Netanyahu's public criticism of the American nuclear deal with Iran was provocative and counterproductive.

Netanyahu, you'll recall, said the deal with Iran was an "historic mistake" and Israel is not bound by it.

This means that no matter how much good will Rouhani is getting from Obama and the EU gang – Israel could up and bomb the plants overnight, any night. And, considering the Saudis' mood about Obama these days – the IAF could fly through Saudi airspace unmolested. Why, the royal band would be playing Hatikva as the Israelis fly above (you don't want them to play the Saudi anthem, because it could interfere with the mission).

Olmert said he, too, had disagreements with Obama, but always made sure to voice them in private.

Bibi's response was that in contrast to "others," when it came to the security of Israeli citizens "I will not be silent."

Why should the White House be in a panic? Because of the bipartisan action taking place in both houses of Congress – something which has been rare, indeed, these past few years. As always, only the Jews could get the Democrats and Republicans together, or, if you will, only a clear betrayal of an old friend by the president could do it.

Anonymous senior officials in the Obama administration have been making a point of saying that Netanyahu's efforts to appeal to Congress won't be effective and Netanyhau can be "managed", saying that Netanyahu is "weak and desperate", that Netanyahu lacks self-confidence, and and the the White House isn't excited by Netanyahu's opposition, according to a report on Israeli TV. The official made sure to add that they aren't naive.

The anonymous senior official doth protest too much, methinks.

According to Ray Takeyh, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations writing for Politico, the Iran accord, freezing but not eliminating Iran's nuclear program over the next six months, is proving "contentious," as congressional critics are highlighting its problems. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), for instance, urged that the agreement be met "with healthy skepticism," and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said that the sanctions relief vs. Iranian concessions "does not seem proportional."

Takeyh reminds readers that all the Iran sanctions bills to date have passed with overwhelming bipartisan majorities.

"Liberals and conservatives have come together to punish the Islamic Republic for its nuclear transgressions and sponsorship of terrorism. During the past three decades, while many countries have been enticed by Iranian commerce, Congress has distinguished itself by persistently holding Tehran responsible for its human rights abuses."

And Takeyh insists this should not be attributed to pressure from AIPAC etc., since "American legislatures are perfectly capable of being offended by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's penal colony without such advocacy."

Of course, the Iranians are not helping. President Obama wakes up every morning to discover new quotes from Iranian officials being candid about the interim deal. Last week, Hossein Shariatmadari, the voice of the Supreme Leader, according to the Washington Post, bragged to the Wall Street Journal that "if the right to enrich is accepted, which it has been, then everything that we have wanted has been realized."

Wouldn't you panic reading this quote? The Iranians are spilling so many beans, somebody is bound to trip and break something…

According to the Hill, the sanctions effort is led by Senators Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), who co-authored the Iran sanctions legislation that sailed through the Senate 100-0 two years ago (see: Senate Foreign Relations Chair (D) Attacks Obama 'Fear Mongering'). And Senators Schumer and John McCain (R-Ariz.) are pushing for new sanctions, too.

It appears that the new legislation will take into consideration the general support of the American public for any deal that doesn't require starting yet another war. What they'll do is push for verification of Iran's compliance. It will focus on getting Iran to dismantle its nuclear program, which the current six-month deal does not do.

Meanwhile, it appears Ehud Olmert, once Israel's political fixer, has been reduced to doing Obama's bidding. It's a good job, but with an obvious sunset date: 2016. Until then, send all water carrying assignments to Yossi Olmert's older brother.

Terror Threat Rising, Intelligence Chairs Say: 'New Bombs, Very Big Bombs'

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Are Americans safer now than they were a year or two ago? No, said the chairs of the House and Senate intelligence committees on Sunday.

"I don't think so," Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) told CNN's "State of the Union" with Candy Crowley.

"I think terror is up worldwide. The statistics indicate that -- the fatalities are way up. The numbers are way up. There are new bombs, very big bombs, trucks being reinforced for those bombs. There are bombs that go through magnatometers. The bomb maker is still alive. There are more groups than ever, and there's huge malevolence out there."

Feinstein later added that people "can get on aircraft with those bombs. They have tried to send four into this country..."

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, had a similar response:

"Oh, I absolutely agree that we're not safer today for the same very reasons," he told Crowley. "So the pressure on our intelligence services to get it right to prevent an attack are enormous. And it's getting more difficult because we see the al Qaeda as we knew it before is metastasizing to something different, more affiliates than we've ever had before, meaning more groups that operated independently of al Qaeda have now joined al Qaeda around the world -- all of them have at least some aspiration to commit an act of violence in the United States or against western targets all around the world.

"They've now switched to this notion that maybe smaller events are okay. So if you have more smaller events than bigger events, they think that might still lead to their objectives and their goals. That makes it exponentially harder for our intelligence services to stop an event like that," Rogers said.

Feinstein told CNN that the main problem is "displaced aggression in this very fundamentalist, jihadist, Islamic community," which blames the Western world for everything that goes wrong and believes that the only solution is "Islamic sharia law and the concept of the caliphate."

"And I see more groups, more fundamentalists, more jihadists more determined to kill to get to where they want to get. So, it's not an isolated phenomenon. You see these groups spread a web of connections. And this includes North Africa, it includes the Middle East, it includes other areas as well," Feinstein added.

Rogers expressed particular concern about nations like Syria, where al Qaeda and its affiliates are attracting Westerners to their cause. The "scary part" is that many people with Western passports are now returning home, fully trained and radicalized:

"A percentage of them have already gone home, including the United States, by the way, is included in that western number. We are very, very concerned that these folks who have western paper (passports) have gone there, participated in combat events, are trained, are further radicalized, now have the ability to go back in western countries.

And now they have a connection, a direct connection to al Qaeda affiliates operating in a place where most people would say, well, we have no interest in Syria. Well, clearly we do. And clearly, that's just one place. And it's starting to spread...Iraq is having its problems now. It's spreading into Lebanon, Jordan has issues, Turkey along the border has issues. This is very, very, very concerning."

Aside from the diversity of threats, Rogers pointed to the challenge of detecting them before something happens: "We have now three al Qaeda affiliate groups have changed the way they communicate, meaning it's less likely that we're going to be able to detect something prior to an event that goes operational, meaning that they've already started the final planning stages to blow something up or shoot someone.

And so we're fighting amongst ourselves here in this country about the role of our intelligence community -- that is having an impact on our ability to stop what is a growing number of threats. And so we've got to shake ourselves out of this pretty soon and understand that our intelligence services are not the bad guys. The bad guys, the al Qaeda affiliates, Russian intelligence services, Chinese intelligence services, the Quds force that operates terrorism events all around the world, those are the folks we need to focus our attention and our energy on in order to keep America safe."

Fwd: A Month of Horror for Christians under Islam

A Month of Horror for Christians under Islam: September 2013

"We shall come for you...you are polluting our religion." — Note apparently from al-Shabaab, Somalia

"It seems great crackdowns on churches and extraordinary waves of arrest of Iranian pastors and Christian converts have not been effective." — Mohabat News, Iran

The same month that Obama tried to wage war on behalf of the jihadi rebels in Syria (citing "human rights" concerns), some of the war's worst atrocities were committed against that nation's Christian minority, most notably in Ma'loula, an ancient Christian region where the inhabitants spoke Aramaic, the language of Jesus.

There, al-Qaeda-linked jihadis fired mortars and missiles into at least two ancient churches before looting them; some 80 Christians trying to defend their homes were killed. Others who could not flee were forced, on pain of death, to convert to Islam.

One man's last words before being slaughtered by the rebels were: "I am a Christian, and if you want to kill me for that, I do not object to it." A nun involved with humanitarian relief said the man "is a Martyr in Christ in the full sense of this word, since he was murdered solely because of religious hatred!"

The Christian Post reports:

Jihadists reportedly forced one man to convert to Islam at gunpoint and slit the throat of another Christian woman's fiancĂ© and then [mockingly] told her, "Jesus didn't come to save him."…. "I saw people wearing Al-Nusra headbands who started shooting at crosses," the Christian senior told the AFP. One of the shooters, he said, "put a pistol to the head of my neighbor and forced him to convert to Islam by obliging him to repeat 'there is no God but God' [Islamic shehada]...Afterwards they joked, 'he's one of ours now.'"

In al-Thawrah, Syria, Christians were also singled out for attack by jihadi invaders. In one incident, they stopped three residents, released two who identified themselves as Muslims, and bludgeoned to death the third after he identified himself a Christian (graphic image). They also destroyed, among other churches, the Antiochian Orthodox church of Sts. Sergius and Bacchus.

In Raqqah, a city in northern Syria, the al-Qaeda linked "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" broke the crosses off the area's two Christian churches and placed on them al-Qaeda's Islamic flags. They also set the contents of the Church of the Annunciation and the Church of Martyrs aflame. In one video, a Muslim "freedom fighter" smashes a statue of Virgin Mary to shouts of Islam's war-cry cry, "Allahu Akbar!" ["Allah is Greater!"]

These latest attacks come in the context of yet another fatwa that appeared in September, and issued by 36 Islamic scholars who legitimized "the right of the faithful Sunni Muslims to seize and take possession of goods, homes, property belonging to Christians, Druze and Alawite and members of other religious minorities 'who do not profess the Sunni religion of the Prophet.'" (Earlier, before the "sex jihad" solved the problem by luring Muslim women from Tunisia and elsewhere to provide their sexual services to jihadis in Syria fighting to make Allah's word supreme, another fatwa permitted jihadis to rape all non-Sunni women.)

Meanwhile, when publicly asked about the jihadi nature of the rebellion and that the rebels often shout Islam's supremacist war cry, Allahu Akbar (such as when firing at Chrisitan churches), U.S. Senator John McCain insisted that shouting "Allahu Akbar!" is equivalent to a Christian saying "Thank God," and that the rebels in Syria are "moderates and I guarantee you they are moderates."

Similarly, when U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was also asked in September about the jihadi and al-Qaeda elements of the Syrian rebels, he argued that, "The opposition has increasingly become more defined by its moderation … more defined by its adherence to some, you know, democratic process and to an all-inclusive, minority-protecting constitution"—an assertion that prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin openly to call Kerry a liar.

The rest of September's roundup of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and country in alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity:

Pakistan Church Attack

In Peshawar, Pakistan, Islamic suicide bombers, in an attack claimed by the Taliban, entered the All Saints Church compound after Sunday mass and blew themselves up in the midst of roughly 550 congregants. They killed nearly 90 worshippers—including Sunday school children, women, and choir members—and injured at least another 120. The now-destroyed Protestant church was built in Peshawar over 130 years ago. According to Margrette, a parishioner who survived (although her sister's status is unknown), "I heard two explosions. People started to run. Human remains were strewn all over the church."

Coptic "Dhimmitude" [Living as "Tolerated" Citizens who Pay for "Protection"] in Egypt

  • After the ousting of President Mohamed Morsi, when the Muslim Brotherhood incited its supporters to attack and destroy over 80 Christian churches, Muslim Brotherhood supporters began to extort money from Christians in Upper Egypt. In Dalga village, 15,000 Christian Copts were forced to pay this jizya—the additional tax, or tribute, that conquered non-Muslims historically have to pay to their Islamic overlords "with willing submission and while feeling themselves subdued" to safeguard their existence, in the words of Koran 9:29. In some instances, those not able to pay are attacked, their wives and children beaten and kidnapped. Some Copts were killed for refusing to pay. Authorities later identified a gang that specialized in overseeing operations to kidnap wealthy Copts in order to earn money.
  • While being driven in his car, Bishop Anba Makarios of Minya came under a hail of bullets from several unidentified persons. The driver managed to get away, taking the bishop to the home of a local Copt for refuge; but the gunmen followed, surrounded the house and shot at it for over 90 minutes, until local security finally responded. The apparent reason for this assassination attempt was that local Muslims thought the bishop had come to reopen the village's only church, St. Michael's, which had been closed 10 years ago for security reasons.
  • After Muslims in the al-Minya district accused a young man of having an illicit relationship with a Muslim woman, violence, in the context of "collective punishment," erupted against the village's Christians. After attacking and plundering the home of the Christians, Muslims, incited by someone with a loudspeaker calling them to further action, prowled the streets of the village, threw stones at Coptic homes, called for revenge, and demanded the burning of their churches, homes, and shops.

Slaughter of Christians

Libya: A group of Muslims surrounded two Egyptian Christians aged 25 and 27, who lived in Libya, and robbed and beat them. The Muslims then demanded that the two men recite the shehada—"There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger"—and convert to Islam. When the two Christians refused, they were tied up, severely beaten, and then shot. Both men died; one with his skull beaten in. No one has been arrested in connection with these killings. The attack marks the third time in two weeks that a Coptic Christian has been robbed and killed in the Derna District.

Nigeria:

Pakistan: While holding a dagger and shouting that he was killing "an infidel who blasphemed against Muhammad," a Muslim in Karachi slit the throat of a 58-year-old Christian man, Boota Masih, and then proceeded to stab his body while police and others looked on. In the words of Masih's son, George: "We were told that Asif kept shouting that my father was an infidel and had spoken derogatory words against Muhammad [Islam's prophet] as he mercilessly stabbed him. A large number of people, including four policemen and private security guards of the market, witnessed the entire scene, but no one tried to stop the killer, who walked away waving the dagger in his hand." According to those close to the slain Christian, his slayer, a business competitor, was jealous of the Christian, and fabricated the blasphemy accusation as a pretext. (Earlier in Pakistan, another Christian man was slaughtered by a group of axe-wielding Muslims, who were envious business competitors.)

Somalia: The Islamic al-Shabaab group killed a 35-year-old Christian woman inside her home. Earlier her husband had found a note saying, "We shall come for you. You are friends with our enemies [Westerners, assumed to be Christians], and you are polluting our religion." The man fled the area with his 4-year-old child. Separately, al-Shabaab kidnapped a 13-year-old Christian boy as he was returning home from school. His parents, who had secretly converted to Christianity, believe their son was kidnapped in an effort to find them and other Christians.

Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

Afghanistan: A member of Afghanistan's parliament, Nazir Ahmad Hanafi, suggested that all Afghans who have converted to Christianity should be executed, according to Islamic law, to put a check to the growth of Christianity among Afghans, both within and without the country. His exact words were: "Afghani citizens continue to convert to Christianity in India. Numerous Afghanis have become Christians in India. This is an offense to Islamic Laws, and according to the Quran, they need to be executed."

Iran: The Islamic Republic launched a public campaign dedicated to halting the spread of Christianity among Iranians. This included organizing meetings aimed at debating how and why Iranian youths are converting, often secretly, to Christianity. Mohabat News reported that the government campaign involved meetings aimed at "distorting" public opinion: "It seems great crackdowns on churches and extraordinary waves of arrest of Iranian pastors and Christian converts have not been effective." This new public campaign comes at a time when at least 13 Christians had been detained, several beaten and threatened if they refused to recant their Christianity.

Morocco: In a courtroom hearing, Mohamed el-Baldi, a Muslim convert to Christianity, was fined and jailed for "shaking the faith of Muslims." Preaching Christianity is prohibited under article 220 of the Moroccan penal code. Apparently to make an example of him, although the maximum sentence is six months' imprisonment, el-Baldi was sentenced to two-and-a-half years. During the hearing, his mother "implored Allah to exact revenge on whoever tampered with her son's mind," causing him to convert to and preach Christianity.

Dhimmitude

Central African Republic: Heavily armed Islamic rebels from the Seleka organization, reportedly from Sudan, attacked the mission of Our Lady of Fatima in Bouar, assaulting, gagging, and taking hostage an Italian missionary and a deacon. They also plundered the premises, and stole, among other items, money, a computer, a camera, and a mobile phone.

Indonesia: Islamists in Jakarta demanded the removal of a new political appointee in West Java because she, Susan Jasmine Zulkifli, is a Christian. Her critics said, among other complaints, that she would not be able to participate in Muslim religious ceremonies, and that she should be transferred to a Christian region.

Iraq: The Assyria Council of Europe and the Assyria Foundation released their 2013 Human Rights Report on Assyrians in Iraq, detailing the persecution, including forced prostitution, suffered by the nation's indigenous Christian minority.

Philippines: Security forces placed Zamboanga City, a large, predominantly Christian, port city in the Philippines, in lockdown while they pursued a Muslim rebel group accused of launching an air-and-sea strike against the region. According to the Washington Times, "The Muslim group is still believed to be holding 170 hostages from the city, a largely Christian community that's nestled among a sea of Muslim villages."

Sudan: Agenzia Fides reported that "There are increasing acts of intimidation against priests and missionaries on behalf of the authorities of Sudan…. In particular, in September four priests were summoned several times by the security services (Sudan National Security Intelligence Agency) in order to be questioned." After describing one incident, the report concludes, "[T]his episode is just one example of intimidation carried out by the Sudanese authorities against the Catholic Church. Recently, in fact, some church centers were closed, several priests and foreign missionaries were forced to leave the country... There are fears now that the future of the Catholic Church in Sudan is at risk."

Zanzibar (Tanzania): Catholic priest Joseph Anselmo Mwagambwa survived an acid attack in the same area where two other priests were shot by al-Qaeda-linked Muslims, "in what was seen as a wider crackdown on devoted Christians... One priest was wounded last year and the other killed in February," reported BosNewsLife.

About this Series

While not all, or even most, Muslims are involved, the persecution of Christians in the Islamic world is on its way to reaching pandemic proportions. "Muslim Persecution of Christians" was developed to collate some—by no means all—of the instances of persecution that surface each month. It serves two purposes:

1) To document that which the mainstream media often seems to fail to report.

2) To suggest that such persecution is not "random" but systematic.

These accounts span different ethnicities, languages, and locations.

Raymond Ibrahim is author of Crucified Again: Exposing Islam's New War in Christians (published by Regnery in cooperation with Gatestone Institute, April 2013). He is a Shillman Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, an associate fellow at the Middle East Forum, and a Media Fellow of the Hoover Institution, 2013

A Declaration of Independence for our times

by Dr. Eowyn

Several years ago, after reading our Founding Fathers' Declaration of Independence, FOTM's Dave McMullen wrote this essay "A Redress of Grievances," now brought up-to-date with five additional new grievances.

Most of the offenses addressed in the Declaration not only are being committed by the United States government today, some are worse.

A Redress of Grievances

by Dave McMullen

In accordance with the inherited truth established by our Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 that the powers of our government shall not exceed the consent of the people being governed

We, the citizens of the United States of America, having endured these injustices for too long, do present to the President and the Congress, as is our right a petition for a redress of grievances, and do demand a reply and actions to correct these listed offenses.

1. The right of all American citizens to work free of any requirement to join an organized labor union.

2. The failure of our justice system to prosecute white collar criminals; both corporate and political.

3. Federal government's unfair redistribution of tax funds collected from states and unfair redistribution of said taxes to promote and secure, through buying votes, a progressive socialist ideology.

4. Promoting a progressive socialist ideology in all of our public school system.

5. Failure of our public school system to educate our children.

6. Attacks on our Freedom of Speech.

7. Attacks on our Freedom of Religion.

8. Attacks on our Right to Bear Arms.

9. Cooperation of corruption between government and banking interests to the detriment of citizens of our USA.

10. Cooperation of corruption between government and foreign countries to the detriment of the citizens of our USA.

11. Collection of political contributions from the purse of foreign hire against the best interest of our USA.

12. Catering to foreign interests to the detriment of domestic interests.

13. Excessive government regulations on private enterprise causing unwarranted financial harm, and a reduction in our ability to compete in a world marketplace.

14. Legislating as public servants in secret chambers.

15. Pressing legislation into law against the will of the majority of the citizens.

16. Fast tracking unfair and unconstitutional legislation through Congress, thereby denying the people time for public scrutiny of said legislations.

17. Waging wars, undeclared by Congress, for the benefit of corporate and political financial gains against the best interest of the American people.

18. Excluding yourselves from the laws of the land by participating in insider trading and then legislating to produce favorable results for your criminal activities; thereby damaging business and individual investors who are lawfully engaged in our stock markets.

19. Failure of the government to enforce existing laws that protect the best interests and rights of American citizens.

20. Preventing state governments from enacting and enforcing legislation that works for the common good of its citizens.

21. Robbing the Social Security trust fund, thereby depriving taxpaying citizens of their retirement funds and also burdening future taxpayers to replace the misappropriated funds.

22. Denying the American people transparency into the activities of the Federal Reserve bank.

23. Printing of deficit fiat currency thereby taxing the American people without our consent or approval, causing the devaluation of our assets and the inflation of our currency.

24. The failure to produce a balanced federal budget.

25. The loss of untold billions of tax dollars through wasteful spending, theft, and mismanagement.

26. Passing legislation that violates our Freedom of privacy.

27. Harassing citizen groups in an attempt to deny these citizens the right to peaceful assembly.

28. A cooperation of corruption between politics and special interest groups thereby denying the citizens fair representation.

29. Harassing freedom of press and speech by the Federal Communication Commission.

30. Levying excessive employee taxes on employers thereby causing great unemployment in our country.

31. Perpetuating an unfair legal system that unjustly damages our citizens and businesses by the failure of Congress to enact any meaningful tort reform legislation.

32. The distribution of tax money through social welfare programs which unfairly burdens working class Americans.

33. The lack of a presidential line item veto which perpetuates the practice of packing toxic legislation into our budget bills.

34. A failure of full disclosure into all activities by the CIA related to the tragic events caused by the operations known as Fast and Furious and Benghazi.

35. The failure of the government to secure our borders against illegal immigration and illegal drug trafficking.

36. The failure of the government to reduce in any meaningful way the huge illegal drug trade that produces so much evil in our country and the world.

37. The distribution of our tax dollars to foreign countries that only too often just makes foreign leaders rich on the backs of USA taxpayers at a time when we can least afford it.

38. The use of our tax dollars to pay for activities such as abortion that is against the conscience of many citizens (no one should be forced to pay for activities they deem morally wrong).

39. For declaring the USA a battlefield thereby robbing its citizens of their constitutional protections from our government no longer in our control.

40. Using tax payer dollars to create standing armies within our borders -- Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Agency (TSA).

41. The federal government's National Security Agency (NSA) spying on our private phone calls and emails.

42.  Using taxpayer funded organizations as a weapon against our businesses, our  political groups and individual citizens who do not support a socialist ideology.

43. Congress passing into law legislation that has not been read and which is not completed with little or no understanding of its effects on the people.

44. The illegal and unconstitutional use of presidential executive orders, thereby overriding the constitutionally ordained legislative power of Congress.

45. Constantly lying to the people.

I wrote the first version of A Series of Grievances with intentions of presenting it to the Congress. Since this is an on going problem, I invite readers to add to the list. But it seems while almost all agree with its content, I could find few who would sign it with me.  A fear of our government has come over most people. It must have been the same for our Founding Fathers who had the courage to sign the first Redress in our Declaration of Independence.

Signed,

Dave McMullen
